Tales Of My Homeland.
‎Let me tell you a story.<p>‎One filled with joy, sorrow, tears and laughter.</p><p>‎One filled with the congenial sound of the gong-gong and the shekere </p><p>‎The wails of the talking drum and Ichaka.</p><p>‎</p><p>‎The enticing steps of the dancers.</p><p>‎Their body movements telling a story and their feet marking their territory, with every beat they dance to.</p><p>‎</p><p>‎The alluring aroma of the Amala and Ewedu, Egusi and FuFu.</p><p>‎The rich smell of the Tuwo-Shinkafa.</p><p>‎Amongst many mouth watering delicacies fills the air.</p><p>‎</p><p>‎Tales by moonlight, everyone seated on the cold ground as they listen to the firm voice of mama.</p><p>‎She tells the story of their forefathers and how they have blessed their land.</p><p>‎</p><p>‎A land so fertile that sprouts out milk and honey.</p><p>‎A land so green, green for all.</p><p>‎The farmers and headmen working together to make sure there's more than enough for their community.</p><p>‎</p><p>‎Let me tell you a story.</p><p>‎One filled with lost thoughts, confusion and had I known.</p><p>‎One filled with the cries of the men of our home as they till and cultivate the soil.</p><p>‎Their sweats, tears and blood only a reminder that they work for someone now.</p><p>‎Earning little to nothing or a good beating.</p><p>‎</p><p>‎A story filled with the songs of the women of our land.</p><p>‎A song asking for a saviour.</p><p>‎A song asking "where did it all go wrong?"</p><p>‎A song filled with regrets, hurts and pain.</p><p>‎</p><p>‎Their children are sold out as slaves or to be used to satisfy the pleasure of their masters.</p><p>‎Their smiles have been wiped away and their lips sealed shut, that they can only cry in silence.</p><p>‎And even in that silence, they keep praying to their God's to spear their lives.</p><p>‎</p><p>‎Let me tell you a story.</p><p>‎A story about a flag.</p><p>‎With the colour green and white, with splatters of red.</p><p>‎A story that fills the heart with sadness each time it's told.</p><p>‎But even in the captivity of the white man, we still had unity in diversity.</p><p>‎</p><p>‎Now listen to this story.</p><p>‎A story of how we all came together.</p><p>‎Dropping our unique difference of culture to work together and take back what was once ours.</p><p>‎</p><p>‎A story filled with joyful tears.</p><p>‎As Daddy returns home from the farm with bountiful harvest for the family.</p><p>‎And mummy prepares a wonderful meal for the family and neighborhood.</p><p>‎The happy feet and blare of laughter as the children return to the ever open arms of their homeland.</p><p>‎</p><p>‎The pit-pat of the raindrop brings more joy to their souls and bodies.</p><p>‎"freedom at last." they breath out.</p><p>‎And now, they all dance to the rhythm of their land.</p><p>‎</p><p>‎So now you have heard of this story.</p><p>‎A story that will pass on to generations yet unborn.</p><p>‎One that will never end.</p><p>‎About a land, a country and a home known as NIGERIA.</p><p>‎</p>
