I still can't get over the shocking sights I witnessed that fateful night. I had to deliver a job, and since there was no light at my place, I headed to a friend's laundry shop. What I saw there left me utterly bewildered. Children as young as 10-15 years old were roaming the streets at 9 pm, while their parents were comfortably lounging at home. I mean, what kind of parentage is this?

I was particularly stunned when I saw my neighbor's 14 year old daughter outside, chatting with friends about men and sex. I was like, "Which kain thing be dis?" The mom had just told me she didn't know where her daughter was, and I'm like, "Aunty, your pikin dey outside dey discuss wetin no concern am!"

Growing up, my parents didn't have to be super strict for me to know that once it's 6 pm, I had to be indoors. It was just a rule we lived by, and it's stuck with me till today. I mean, I'm a grown person now, but I still can't bring myself to walk around at night unnecessarily.

But these days, it seems parents are just too relaxed, leaving their kids to the mercy of the world. I'm not saying parents should be overly controlling, but there needs to be a balance. Children need guidance, boundaries, and a sense of responsibility.

As I watched those young girls chatting about things they shouldn't be concerned with, I couldn't help but wonder what the future holds for them. Will they be able to navigate the complexities of life with the kind of exposure they're getting?

Parents, we need to wake up! We need to take our responsibilities seriously and give our children the guidance and protection they need. We can't just sit back, relax, and expect our kids to turn out right. It doesn't work that way.

Let's get back to basics, people! Let's raise our children with values, discipline, and a sense of purpose. Let's give them the tools they need to succeed in life, and let's be the role models they need us to be.

What's your thought concerning this?

How can we bring back the old times?

Monthly Score
The Top Monthly Contributors ranking is a monthly metric indicating how users respond to your posts, not just how many you publish.
We look at three main things:
1
How strong your best post is —
Your highest-scoring post this month carries the most weight. One great post can take you far.
2
How consistent the engagement you receive is —
We also look at the average score of all your posts. If your work keeps getting good reactions, you get a boost.
3
How consistent the engagement you receive is —
Posting more helps — but only a little.
Extra posts give a small bonus that grows slowly, so quality always matters more than quantity.
In simple terms:
A great post beats many ignored posts
Consistently engaging posts beat one lucky hit
Spamming low-engagement posts won't help
Tips, comments, and upvotes from others matter most
This ranking is designed to reward
Thoughtful, high-quality posts
Real engagement from the community
Consistency over time — without punishing you for posting again
The Top Monthly Contributors leaderboard reflects what truly resonates, not just who posts the most.
