<h3 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: 10.5px;"><strong>THE CHILD IS HIS, BUT THE PAIN IS HERS.</strong></span></h3><p><br/></p><p>Who gave the order that children belong to men?</p><p><br/></p><p>“Ta ló sọ pé ọkùnrin ni ó ní ọmọ?”</p><p><br/></p><p>Who decided that men are supposed to have the upper hand when it comes to their children?</p><p><br/></p><p>Have we ever stopped to think about a woman’s pain? The pregnancy stage, the birth stage, breastfeeding, the sleepless nights, the exhaustion, the bleeding, the postpartum stress- everything she goes through to bring a child into the world and keep that child alive and well.</p><p><br/></p><p>And it doesn't end there.</p><p><br/></p><p>Think about the women who still have to provide for themselves and their children while going through all of this. The women who have to work, run businesses, or somehow keep things together even when they are physically and emotionally exhausted.</p><p><br/></p><p>It is not easy.</p><p><br/></p><p>Yet somehow, society still finds a way to place the greater responsibility for a child on the mother.</p><p><br/></p><p>If a child does well, the father may be praised. But if that same child turns out badly, people are quick to ask, “Where was the mother?”</p><p><br/></p><p>Why?</p><p><br/></p><p>A child has a father and a mother. Both have a role to play in raising, teaching, guiding and shaping that child. So why does the responsibility, and especially the blame, so often fall more heavily on the mother?</p><p><br/></p><p>God did not make these rules. Society did.</p><p><br/></p><p>And perhaps it is time we questioned them.</p><p><br/></p><p>Motherhood does not make a woman superhuman. She gets tired. She gets overwhelmed. She needs support too.</p><p><br/></p><p>Raising a child should be a shared responsibility.</p><p><br/></p><p>The child is his too.</p><p><br/></p><p>So why is the blame so often hers?</p>
