<p>The gavel drops from a hand that is stained with the same ink it condemns.</p><p>You stand on the shore and mock the drowning man for getting wet while the ocean is currently filling your own lungs.</p><p><br/></p><p>It is a bird with broken wings laughing at a stone for not flying.</p><p><br/></p><p>The scholar Seneca said that we are quick to see the boils on others while our own bodies are covered in sores.</p><p><br/></p><p>You have become a specialist in the anatomy of a neighbor’s sin.</p><p><br/></p><p>You study their cracks like a map but you are lost in the desert of your own soul.</p><p><br/></p><p>Look at the sun.</p><p>The sun does not pick a single leaf to burn.</p><p><br/></p><p>It shines on the oak and the weed with the same gold light.</p><p>But you are a narrow beam.</p><p><br/></p><p>You are a spotlight in a dark theater searching for a stumble.</p><p><br/></p><p>You are so busy watching the feet of the dancer that you have forgotten you are standing in a fire.</p><p><br/></p><p>Jesus of Nazareth asked why you look at the speck of sawdust in a brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own.</p><p>That plank has made you blind.</p><p><br/></p><p>It has become the wall you built to keep the truth out.</p><p><br/></p><p>Nature is a mirror you refuse to hold.</p><p><br/></p><p>The vulture feeds on the dead but thinks itself clean because it does not kill.</p><p><br/></p><p>You feed on the reputations of men and think yourself a saint because you use a silver fork.</p><p><br/></p><p>The wind does not argue with the trees about their shape.</p><p><br/></p><p>The rain does not judge the soil for being thirsty.</p><p>Only you sit in the high chair of the judge while the handcuffs are already clicking shut around your own wrists.</p><p><br/></p><p>You see the rot in the fruit of the orchard.</p><p>You do not see the poison in the water of your own well.</p><p><br/></p><p>Drop the magnifying glass.</p><p><br/></p><p>Pick up the mirror.</p><p><br/></p><p>The monster you have been hunting is the one currently speaking through your mouth</p>
