The one who checks in...

I have been seeing this post for a while now, and I get it.

We all get it. We understand that the person who seems to be ignoring you might be battling deep depression. We understand that the person labeled as stingy might be drowning in debt, and the one being mocked might just be fighting to survive another day.

Yes, we know some people don't actually care and they're waiting for if you don't, they won't. Yes, such people exist.

But here is the truth that often goes unsaid and I might need to be among the number of those who'd address this: no matter what you're dealing with, it shouldn't be an excuse to shut out the people who actually care.

We know it is not easy for you. We know life is hitting you hard, and maybe you are just trying to keep your head above water, but please understand that we have things we are dealing with too.

Life is messing with us just as much as it is messing with you. When we reach out, when we send that text or place that call, we are effectively putting our own burdens on hold just to see to your well-being. We are spending our limited emotional energy on you.

It hurts when those messages are ignored for days, especially when we see you active online or posting pictures.

We know you are trying to manage your emotions, and we know you cannot always respond immediately. But what about the moments when you feel a bit better? What about the moments when you have enough breath to say thank you?

We are not complaining, but we are human too. When you respond with coldness or give us an attitude that suggests we are doing "too much" just by caring, it starts to wear us down.

If I keep pouring into a cup that never pours back, I will eventually break. It is like exhausting myself to keep a fire going while I am freezing to death. What is feeding me back? Nothing.

When I get drained from giving and giving, the smallest bit of rejection shatters me because I have nothing left to protect myself with.

It is okay to be going through something, but please don't forget the hands that are reaching into the dark to find yours. We are struggling too, yet we chose not to let go of you.

Many said I'm taking things personal... Please, help me here.. 😓

My question from this picture is, what if we check in and we're met with a wall? Huh? I'm dealing with something too..🤔
