Alone.”</p><p><br/></p><p>They sat under the mango tree near the back fence—Zara opened her leather folder and brought out an old school file marked *CONFIDENTIAL*.</p><p><br/></p><p>Aisha frowned. “What’s that?”</p><p><br/></p><p>Zara sighed. “It’s your student file… and something they hid from you.”</p><p><br/></p><p>She opened to a page that read: </p><p>*“Real Name: Aisha Zara Idris Uche.”*</p><p><br/></p><p>Aisha blinked. “Uche? That’s… Deniem’s surname.”</p><p><br/></p><p>Zara nodded slowly. “He’s not just some boy. You’re related.”</p><p><br/></p><p>Aisha’s voice cracked. “As how?”</p><p><br/></p><p>Zara looked her straight in the eyes. “Same father. Different mothers.”</p><p><br/></p><p>Her breath stopped.</p><p><br/></p><p>“Deniem doesn’t know,” Zara whispered. “But if this spreads…”</p><p><br/></p><p>Aisha stood up, eyes glassy. “Why are you just telling me?”</p><p><br/></p><p>“Because it’s time. You were adopted into our family to cover it up. Our father had an affair. And now the past is catching up.”</p><p><br/></p><p>Tears dropped. “So I’ve been… liking my brother?”</p><p><br/></p><p>Zara stood too. “Half-brother. And no — you didn’t know. But now you do.”</p><p><br/></p><p>Aisha wiped her face. “I need to leave this school.”</p><p><br/></p><p>Zara held her hand. “Or you could stay. And fix things.
