<p><strong>The Waiting List</strong></p><p><br/></p><p>When silence takes over</p><p>and the voices creep in,</p><p><br/></p><p>I learn this too was me,</p><p>the part that would burn the world</p><p>just to see you.</p><p><br/></p><p>I wait in the dark,</p><p>learning the shape of absence,</p><p>trying to feel what others feel.</p><p><br/></p><p>I knew.</p><p>It was never me who needed this.</p><p>It was always you.</p><p><br/></p><p>I stayed in the corner,</p><p>listening for a voice</p><p>that could not reach me.</p><p><br/></p><p>I could not cross over.</p><p>Beauty wore me thin.</p><p><br/></p><p>So I wait.</p><p><br/></p><p>Till you are old and grey.</p><p>Till your hands forget their strength.</p><p>Till your star begins to dim.</p><p><br/></p><p>Then I will light you</p><p>from the other side,</p><p>and you will give the world</p><p>one last breath.</p><p><br/></p><p>And then</p><p>we will be one.</p>
