The Weight I Almost Carried
<p><em>Sometimes one scare can shift the way you see life, love, and your choices. This is my story, my clarity.</em></p><p><br/></p><p>No one told me</p><p>how silence could scream,</p><p>days dragging,</p><p>anxious breaths counting</p><p>what-ifs in the dark.</p><p><br/></p><p>What if I’m pregnant?</p><p>Dreams derailed,</p><p>education paused,</p><p>my father’s trust fractured,</p><p>my brother’s eyes searching</p><p>for answers I don’t have.</p><p><br/></p><p>The truth was clear:</p><p>though he might share the blame,</p><p>the weight would rest on me,</p><p>my body, my future, my name.</p><p><br/></p><p>So I swallowed a pill,</p><p>but not the fear.</p><p>It lingered,</p><p>teaching me a bitter truth:</p><p>sex had become more worry than wonder,</p><p>more chain than choice.</p><p><br/></p><p>So I choose pause.</p><p>I choose purity,</p><p>not from shame,</p><p>but from peace.</p><p><br/></p><p>If I carry life,</p><p>let it be chosen.</p><p>If I love,</p><p>let it be without fear.</p><p>If I wait,</p><p>let it</p><p> be because my future</p><p>is worth it.</p><p><br/></p><p>-<strong>IC</strong></p>
