There's Something under My Bed

‼️THERE'S SOMETHING UNDER MY BED‼️

It was a long and boring holiday.

I couldn't wait to get back to the cabin. It was our getaway cabin.

In the car, on our way to the cabin, I stared at posters.

One caught my eye–it was a missing person’s poster.

“Too bad,” I thought. “At least that's none of my business,” I sighed and continued chewing the coffee-flavoured gum.

Hey honey, don't forget to clean up your room okay?

I pretended not to hear and turned up the volume of my headphones.

“Teenagers” I saw her mouth.

After settling in, it was time for dinner. I ate my meal hurriedly, said goodnight and reluctantly hugged my parents.

It was time for bed, finally.

I grabbed my phone and slammed on the bed.

The slightly ventilated room started to choke. Not because of the absence of air but because there was something in it. It smelt like a dead animal.

I adjusted my position and the smell grew stronger. I guessed it was probably under my bed but whatever it was, it was interrupting my sleep.

I got up and looked around, opening every drawer and cupboard, even my wardrobe–hoping I wouldn't have to check under my bed.

Just when I was about to give up, I saw a sneaker.

It didn't look like mine.

I grabbed a torch and braced myself for the wet-looking sneaker I thought our guest forgot.

I dragged the sneaker and something came out with it, with the smell even worse than before.

It wasn't an animal.
