We Set Out to Earn Comfort
<p><span style="background-color: transparent;">We set out to earn comfort,</span></p><p>Leaving our comfort back in the village…</p><p><br/></p><p>It feels like this is the path,</p><p>The one that leads to the home of peace.</p><p><br/></p><p>But here, the sun scorches mercilessly,</p><p>And even the cool water tastes bitter…</p><p>Here, the winds too charge a price,</p><p>Before granting us a breath.</p><p>Even the nights are merchants here,</p><p>Who knows what the mornings will bring?</p><p>Yet still, we keep walking,</p><p>Far away from our village…</p><p><br/></p><p>There, we saw crowds of people,</p><p>Perhaps ahead lies a city.</p><p><br/></p><p>We had heard whispers too,</p><p>That comfort finds its nest there.</p><p><br/></p><p>Standing at the crossroads,</p><p>We gazed at tall buildings,</p><p>Everywhere there were people,</p><p>Yet in the crowd, each stood alone.</p><p><br/></p><p>We wandered through endless streets,</p><p>Saw all the towering walls…</p><p>Many smiling faces appeared,</p><p>But behind them, we saw hidden tears.</p><p><br/></p><p>In the mornings, worries ruled their lives,</p><p>But at night, bodies were sold.</p><p>Here we witnessed human friendships,</p><p>And burning corpses left to cry alone…</p><p><br/></p><p>Moment by moment drifted away,</p><p>We kept wandering a lifetime long…</p><p>Perhaps the true comfort was onl</p><p>y there—</p><p>The one we left behind at home.</p>
