What does it mean to trust?

Is it telling everyone every little detail about your life?

The good, the bad, and the parts that still ache?

Is it keeping friends who last more than two months… or two years?

Is it the courage to open up again after you’ve been disappointed — again?

Sometimes, I wonder.

Because trust feels fragile.

Like something that can break even when you’re careful with it.

Should someone who’s been lonely trust again?

Should someone who feels too complicated, too guarded, too “different”… try again?

Should someone who’s still learning how to love people — trust them?

Here’s what I’m learning:

Trust isn’t blind exposure. It’s not telling everyone your story.

It’s choosing discernment — knowing who’s safe, who’s consistent, who reflects love without manipulation.

Trust isn’t naivety. It’s courage.

It’s saying, “I’ve been hurt, but I’ll still hope.”

And even when it’s hard to trust people again,

we can still trust God —

because He’s not like people.

He doesn’t change His mind

halfway through loving you.
