Aisha standing two lines behind Deniem, pretending not to notice how the back of his neck twitched the same way it always did when he was nervous.</p><p><br/></p><p>They hadn’t spoken all weekend.</p><p><br/></p><p>The silence wasn’t because of anger — it was fear.</p><p><br/></p><p>The kind that creeps in when your heart starts catching feelings deeper than you planned.</p><p><br/></p><p>But by break time, the storm hit.</p><p><br/></p><p>It started as a whisper in the girls’ toilet:</p><p><br/></p><p>> “I heard Aisha and Deniem were holding hands behind the library.”</p><p><br/></p><p>Then by Chemistry period, it was full-blown gossip:</p><p><br/></p><p>> “They kissed after school last week. Shade said she saw them.”</p><p><br/></p><p>Aisha walked into class to find eyes on her — not friendly ones.</p><p><br/></p><p>Deniem’s seat was empty.</p><p><br/></p><p>Her heart dropped.</p><p><br/></p><p>When she finally found him near the water tank behind the lab, his jaw was tight.</p><p><br/></p><p>“They’ve started,” he said without turning.</p><p><br/></p><p>“I know,” she replied, voice shaking.</p><p><br/></p><p>“I didn’t think it would happen this fast.”</p><p><br/></p><p>A beat of silence.</p><p><br/></p><p>Then Deniem looked at her. “If this goes on, you’ll suffer more than me. You’re the girl. They’ll judge you harder.”</p><p><br/></p><p>“And what? I should run?” Aisha snapped. “I’m not ashamed of liking you, Deniem.”</p><p><br/></p><p>His brows softened. “I’m not asking you to run… I’m asking you to survive.”</p><p><br/></p><p>That night, Aisha’s phone lit up:</p><p><br/></p><p>*Deniem:* *No matter what they say… if you’re still in this, I’m not going anywhere.*</p><p><br/></p><p>*Aisha:* *Then we fight in silence.
