A DIAMOND 💎 IN THE WRONG HAND IS JUST A STONE

Never Measure Your Value By The Opinion Of People Who Cannot Recognise Your Worth and Purpose

In a small village nestled between green hills lived an old man named Okeke. He was known for his wisdom, but few people ever visited him because his advice was often difficult to hear.

One rainy afternoon, a young orphan named Chika came to him. His clothes were worn, his slippers were torn, and disappointment filled his eyes.

"Papa Okeke," he sighed, "why does it seem that no one values me? Everywhere I go, I am overlooked. People treat me like I have nothing to offer."

The old man smiled gently. He reached into a small wooden box and handed Chika what looked like an ordinary grey stone.

"Take this to the market," he said. "Do not sell it. Simply ask people what they would pay for it."

Chika obeyed.

The fruit seller laughed. "I'll give you two oranges."

The butcher glanced at it and shrugged. "It's just a stone. I'll use it to sharpen my knife. Five hundred naira."

The bricklayer examined it briefly. "I'll add it to my pile of rocks. That's all it's good for."

Disappointed, Chika returned.

"You see?" he said sadly. "Even the stone has little value."

The old man nodded. "Now take it to the city and visit the jeweller."

When the jeweller saw the stone, his hands began to tremble. He quickly locked the shop door.

"Young man," he whispered, "where did you get this? This isn't an ordinary stone. It's one of the rarest diamonds I have ever seen! It is worth millions."

Chika stood speechless.

The old man later revealed the truth.

"The stone was never ordinary. The people who saw it simply lacked the knowledge to recognise its worth."

Then he looked deeply into Chika's eyes and said,

"Never measure your value by the opinions of people who cannot recognise your purpose. A diamond in the wrong hand is just a stone, but in the hands of someone who understands its worth, it becomes priceless."

Years passed.

Chika left the village, studied hard, and became one of the country's most respected engineers. One day, he returned to the same market where people had dismissed him.

The fruit seller recognised him.

"Weren't you the poor orphan who used to walk these streets?"

Chika smiled.

"Yes. I was never worthless. I was simply in places where people could not see my value."

The market fell silent.

That day, everyone learned a lesson they would never forget.

Some employers reject talented workers because they cannot recognise excellence.

Some families overlook the child who later becomes their greatest blessing.

Some friends walk away from loyal people only to realise, years later, what they lost.

Some people abandon those who truly love them, chasing what only glitters, while leaving behind the genuine diamond.

The tragedy is not that the diamond lost its value.

The tragedy is that the wrong hands never recognised it.

Your value is not determined by how people treat you, but by who you are. If you are constantly ignored, rejected, or underestimated, don't conclude that you are worthless. Sometimes, you are simply a diamond in the wrong hands. The right people, the right place, and the right time will recognise the treasure that others called a stone.
