Appropriate Questions to Ask on a Date

First dates are about connection, not a checklist. The right questions can ignite curiosity, spark laughter, and reveal the person behind the profile without feeling like an interrogation. Appropriate questions are thoughtful, open-ended, and respect boundaries, creating a space where both people feel seen and at ease.

Good questions invite stories and insights. “What’s something you’ve always wanted to try but haven’t yet?” uncovers dreams and ambitions, hinting at their sense of adventure. “What’s the best trip you’ve ever taken?” prompts a vivid tale, shedding light on whether they chase culture, nature, or relaxation. These questions build a bridge to their personality without diving into heavy topics like exes or finances too soon.

Injecting humor keeps things light. “If you could have dinner with any fictional character, who’d it be and why?” sparks playful banter and reveals their imagination. Or try, “What’s the weirdest food combo you’ve ever tried?”—it’s a fun way to share quirks and laugh together.

But please, stop asking questions like “What do you bring to the table?” Are we aspiring furniture makers? That tired phrase turns a date into a transaction, reducing someone to a resume. Similarly, avoid interview-style traps like “Where do you see yourself in five years?” or overly personal probes like “What’s your biggest regret?” early on. These can make your date feel judged or exposed.

Instead, opt for questions that vibe with the moment, like “What’s a hobby you’ve recently picked up?” or “What song’s been on repeat for you lately?” These keep things current and relatable, fostering a natural flow. The key is to listen actively and follow up thoughtfully—show you’re engaged, not just collecting data. A date is about kindling a spark, and the right questions, asked with genuine curiosity, can make all the difference.

At the end of the month, we give out prizes in 3 categories: Best Content, Top Engagers and
Most Engaged Content.
Best Content
Top Engagers
Most Engaged Content
Best Content
We give out cash prizes to between 7 and 20 community members with the best insights in the past month.
The winners are picked by an in-house selection process.
The winners are NOT picked from the leaderboards/rankings, we choose winners based on the quality, originality
and insightfulness of their content.
Here are a few other things to know for the Best Content track
1
Quality over Quantity — You stand a higher chance of winning by publishing a few really good insights across the entire month,
rather than a lot of low-quality, spammy posts.
2
Share original, authentic, and engaging content that clearly reflects your voice, thoughts, and opinions.
3
Avoid using AI to generate content—use it instead to correct grammar, improve flow, enhance structure, and boost clarity.
4
Explore audio content—high-quality audio insights can significantly boost your chances of standing out.
5
Use eye-catching cover images—if your content doesn't attract attention, it's less likely to be read or engaged with.
6
Share your content in your social circles to build engagement around it.
