Before You

Before you,

love was just a word people said too easily.

A word thrown into conversations

like it carried no weight.

Before you,

I thought love was noise.

Loud promises.

Temporary feelings.

Words people said

When they didn’t want to feel alone.

Before you,

love looked like uncertainty.

But then you happened.

And suddenly

love didn’t feel loud anymore.

It felt… real.

I met you.

And suddenly

love had a voice.

Love had eyes.

Love had a heartbeat

that sounded a lot like yours.

You see,

loving you feels like discovering a quiet truth in a very noisy world.

Like finding calm

in the middle of a storm

I didn’t even realize I was fighting.

Because somehow

your presence feels like peace.

And peace is rare.

Peace is rare

in a world where people pretend to feel things they don’t.

Where hearts are borrowed but never protected.

Loving you doesn’t feel like something I learned.

It feels like something my soul remembered.

Like somewhere between all the chaos of this world

And the quiet spaces in my mind, my heart recognized you.

And I swear-

there is something about you that feels like home.

Not the kind with walls and doors but the kind that exists in a feeling.

The kind where I can breathe without my heart being afraid.

You see…

the world can be loud.

Too loud.

People pretending.

Feelings fading.

Promises breaking.

But you—

You feel different.

The kind of different that makes my heart pause just to understand what it’s feeling.

Because when I look at you,

I don’t just see someone I love.

I see someone

Who changed the way my heart understands love.

And that’s terrifying.

Because loving you

means my heart finally has something it’s afraid to lose.

When it comes to you?

Everything becomes still.

Your voice quiets the storms in my head.

Your presence feels like peace I didn’t even know I was searching for.

And maybe that’s what scares me the most.

Because loving you

isn’t small.

It isn’t temporary.

It’s the kind of love that grows roots in your soul.

The kind that changes the way you look at tomorrow.

But even with that fear…

I wouldn’t trade this feeling for anything.

Because loving you

Feels like sunlight breaking through clouds on a day I thought would stay grey.

It feels like hope.

And hope...

hope is a dangerous thing.

Because hope makes you believe that maybe… just maybe

Something beautiful can last.

Because now,

when I think about the future I don’t just see dreams.

I see you in them.

And maybe I don’t say it enough.

Maybe words fail me sometimes.

But if my heart could speak

without hesitation

without fear

without limits…

it would tell you this:

You are not just someone I love.

You are the calm in my chaos.

The warmth in my cold days.

The quiet reassurance that real love still exists.

So if anyone ever asked me what love feels like..?

I wouldn’t talk about poetry.

I wouldn’t talk about roses.

I wouldn’t talk about fairy tales.

I would simply say this:

Love is the way my heart

feels safer when you’re near.

Love is the way my soul

recognizes yours.

Love is the quiet moment

when I realize that out of all the people

in this world…somehow my heart found you.

And if the universe asked me what love looks like…

I wouldn’t give a definition.

I would simply point to you.

Because somehow,

in a world full of temporary things, you feel like forever.
