Imagine seeing someone doing 100 sit-ups every day because they believe it will give them a flat stomach. You might even hear someone saying "if I do more abdominal exercises, this belly fat will disappear.”

This is a very common belief in our society. Many people spend most of their workout time doing crunches, sit-ups and other ab exercises, expecting to specifically burn the fat around their stomach. But the fact is you cannot choose where your body loses fat simply by exercising that particular area.

So it time to clear fitness misconception about belly fat.

Doing hundreds of sit-ups or crunches does not automatically mean you will lose belly fat.

Ab exercises can strengthen and develop the abdominal muscles, but fat loss occurs through overall changes in energy balance and cannot be targeted to one specific area simply by exercising that area.

1. Regular physical activity.

This means staying active throughout your day, not only when you go to the gym.

Examples: Walking, taking the stairs, dancing, cycling, or playing a sport.

2. Strength training 🏋🏽♂️

Strength training helps build and maintain muscle while supporting overall body composition.

Examples: Squats, push-ups, lunges, planks, resistance-band exercises, or weightlifting.

3. Cardiovascular exercise ❤️

Cardio gets your heart rate up and improves your cardiovascular fitness.

Examples: Brisk walking, jogging, running, swimming, cycling, skipping, or dancing.

4. A balanced diet 🍽️

You don't need to completely stop eating your favourite foods. Focus on getting a good mix of nutrients and appropriate portions.

Examples: Rice with vegetables and fish/chicken, beans with vegetables, eggs with whole-grain bread, fruits, and plenty of water.

5. Adequate sleep 😴

Your body needs enough sleep to recover and function properly.

Example: Aim for a consistent sleep routine and generally get around 7–9 hours of sleep as an adult.

6. Consistency 🔁

This is probably the most important part. You don't have to do everything perfectly; you need to keep showing up.

Example: Instead of exercising intensely for one week and stopping, aim for 30 minutes of activity several times a week and gradually build from there.

In simple terms, if your goal is to reduce body fat, don't focus only on your stomach.

Train your entire body and build healthy habits that you can maintain.

Fitness is a process, not a magic trick.

At the end of the month, we give out prizes in 3 categories: Best Content, Top Engagers and
Most Engaged Content.
Best Content
Top Engagers
Most Engaged Content
Best Content
We give out cash prizes to between 7 and 20 community members with the best insights in the past month.
The winners are picked by an in-house selection process.
The winners are NOT picked from the leaderboards/rankings, we choose winners based on the quality, originality
and insightfulness of their content.
Here are a few other things to know for the Best Content track
1
Quality over Quantity — You stand a higher chance of winning by publishing a few really good insights across the entire month,
rather than a lot of low-quality, spammy posts.
2
Share original, authentic, and engaging content that clearly reflects your voice, thoughts, and opinions.
3
Avoid using AI to generate content—use it instead to correct grammar, improve flow, enhance structure, and boost clarity.
4
Explore audio content—high-quality audio insights can significantly boost your chances of standing out.
5
Use eye-catching cover images—if your content doesn't attract attention, it's less likely to be read or engaged with.
6
Share your content in your social circles to build engagement around it.
