Many people think older folks should automatically get respect because they’ve lived longer. But does age alone make someone worthy of it? Let’s think about it.

Older people often have more experience. They’ve been through tough times—maybe wars, hard economies, or big life changes. That can make them wise, and in the past, communities leaned on elders for advice. Their stories and lessons helped everyone survive. Even now, older people might have smart ideas from years of living.

But respect shouldn’t just come with age. Being older doesn’t always mean being wiser. Some older folks might hold onto old ideas or act unkindly. Meanwhile, a young person who’s thoughtful or works hard for others can deserve just as much respect. Respect goes both ways—it’s about how you act, not just how old you are.

The problem comes when older people expect respect without giving it back. In today’s world, young people often lead change—like inventing new tech or fighting for the planet. If we only respect age, we might miss out on fresh ideas. But ignoring older people’s experience is also a mistake. Their long view can balance things out.

In the end, respect should come from what you do, not just your age. Everyone—old or young—should listen and value each other. That’s when we all win.

At the end of each month, we give out cash prizes to 5 people with the best insights in the past month
as well as coupon points to 15 people who didn't make the top 5, but shared high-quality content.
The winners are NOT picked from the leaderboards/rankings, we choose winners based on the quality, originality
and insightfulness of their content.
Here are a few other things to know
1
Quality over Quantity — You stand a higher chance of winning by publishing a few really good insights across the entire month,
rather than a lot of low-quality, spammy posts.
2
Share original, authentic, and engaging content that clearly reflects your voice, thoughts, and opinions.
3
Avoid using AI to generate content—use it instead to correct grammar, improve flow, enhance structure, and boost clarity.
4
Explore audio content—high-quality audio insights can significantly boost your chances of standing out.
5
Use eye-catching cover images—if your content doesn't attract attention, it's less likely to be read or engaged with.
6
Share your content in your social circles to build engagement around it.
