Episode 2

University was beginning to feel different.

After the first few days of lectures, everyone was slowly finding their place. Some students were focused on their studies, some were busy making new friends, while others had already started looking for someone special.

For Daniel, school was supposed to be simple.

Attend lectures. Read his books. Make good friends. Graduate with good grades.

At least, that was the plan.

Until he met Sarah.

Sarah was not the loudest girl in the class. She rarely tried to get everyone's attention, but somehow, people noticed her. She was intelligent, respectful and always came prepared for lectures.

Daniel first noticed her when the lecturer asked a difficult question.

Nobody answered.

Then Sarah raised her hand.

She stood up and explained the answer confidently.

Daniel looked at her and smiled.

"This girl is smart."

After the lecture, Daniel's friend, Mike, noticed him staring.

"Guy, why are you looking at that girl like you're trying to solve an examination question?"

Daniel laughed.

"I'm just looking."

"Looking abi admiring?"

"Leave me, abeg."

Mike laughed.

"University has started."

The next day, Daniel deliberately sat closer to Sarah.

Not too close.

Just close enough to have a reason to talk to her.

When the lecturer entered, everyone became quiet.

Halfway through the lecture, Sarah dropped her pen.

Daniel picked it up and handed it to her.

"Thank you," she said with a smile.

"You're welcome."

That was their first real conversation.

It lasted barely five seconds.

But sometimes, five seconds is enough to begin a story.

After the lecture, Daniel finally gathered courage.

"Excuse me, please. Can I get your number? I want to ask you something about the assignment."

Sarah looked at him suspiciously.

"The assignment?"

"Yes."

She smiled.

"You don't even know if I understand it."

Daniel laughed.

"That's why I'm asking."

She gave him her number.

Daniel saved it immediately.

Sarah ❤️

He quickly changed the name.

Sarah — Course Mate

He didn't want Mike to see it.

Unfortunately, Mike was standing behind him.

"Course mate?"

Daniel turned.

"Don't start."

Mike laughed.

"Bro, I understand."

Daniel smiled.

But neither of them knew that the innocent exchange of a phone number would eventually become something much deeper.

And neither of them knew that university relationships were not always about love.

Sometimes, they were about distraction.

Sometimes, heartbreak.

Sometimes, growth.

And sometimes, they became the reason a student either lost focus...

or discovered a better version of himself.

To be continued...
