Every Midnight the Food in My Pot Disappears… Until I Did This

Episode 5

I was relieved that the whole midnight mystery of my food disappearing was finally over. But the way my fiance was staring at the girl I caught, I couldn’t understand it.

“Who is this girl?” he demanded angrily.

“I’ve told you before—” I said softly.

He gave a bitter laugh.

“This girl looks just like you. Don’t lie to me, she’s your daughter, isn’t she? You can’t deceive me.”

“No, please, listen...” I tried to explain again.

But he wouldn’t hear it.

“If this marriage is going to work, you must send her back to wherever she came from. Don’t think I’ll accept this. You said she came from the ceiling? So funny, I knew it. You tricked me. This child is yours. I can’t marry a woman who already has a child and pretends otherwise.”

Tears welled in my eyes. “Please…” I whispered.

“Decide,” he said coldly. “If truly she isn’t yours, then prove it, send her away. But if you can’t, then forget this marriage. Forget me.”

And with that, he walked out.

I dropped into a chair, trembling, tears streaming down my face. My whole world felt like it was crumbling.

Then, the little girl walked quietly to me. She touched my arm.

“Please don’t cry for me,” she said softly. “I don’t want to come between you and your fiance. You’ve tried. You stood for me. Just go ahead and marry him. I know we’ll meet again someday. I love you ma.”

Her words pierced my soul. I broke down completely, holding her tight as I wept like a child.

Wiping my tears, I picked up my phone and dialed his number. When he answered, my voice was steady.

“I’m calling to tell you this, I cannot abandon this girl. She’s part of me now. If all I achieve in life is to put a smile on her face and give her a future, so be it.”

“Oh really?” he sneered. “One day you’ll come crawling back to beg me.”

“Never!” I replied firmly. “In fact, take your car and everything else. I don’t want anything to do with you.”

I ended the call before he could reply.

Later, he came to collect his car, and just like that, we cut ties.

A few months passed.

Then something beautiful happened. The little girl, the same one who once hid in the ceiling and was rejected by many, won the overall best student award in school. She was granted a scholarship.

And on the very day I took her to receive that award… I met the man who is now my husband. A loving, understanding man. We grew close, and our bond became unshakable. He didn’t just accept me, he embraced the little girl as his own daughter.

A few years passed.

God blessed me with twins. The little girl who once hid in the ceiling became their big sister, our first child in every way. She thrived in school and made us proud. Because of her, doors of connection and contracts opened for us. She became our joy, our blessing.

One day, I unexpectedly came across my ex-fiancé. His face had changed, burdened, broken. To my surprise, he knelt before me and said,

“Please… pray for me. I need a child.”

I looked at him calmly and replied,

“God gives, and He takes. I am not God. And sincerely, I hold nothing against you.”

I quietly walked away. Today, I live a happy life… and looking back, I have no regrets.

The End

Expect another story soon.....
