I don't care if her husband was Abusive you Male Lead is still a piece of Sh**t

This is a trope I've seen in media where the author is trying to write a character with questionable morals or a Morally grey personality, but they don't know how to still make you like the character or see the character as desirable so the drop the bar in HELL.

They make every other male character/ possible Romantic interest the absolute worst so the male lead seems better.....BY COMPARISON!.

Example 1

365 Days(movie)

In 365 Days we meet a Massimo (Male Lead) a member of the Italian Mafia who sees a vision of a woman as he is dying from a gunshot wound.

Years later he runs Into Laura(Female lead) who has a boyfriend!, And kidnaps her. He has a portrait of her in his house , he has her tied up and tell her that he'll give her 365 days to fall in love with him. But what about her boyfriend, you ask?.

Massimo has people trail him to reveal that he's cheating on Laura

So you have expect me to look at this psycho Kidnapper who goes on to disrespect her boundaries, go back on his word that he won't touch her, tie her up and make her watch him get sexual acts performed on him but we're supposed to root for him because,

Hey He's not a cheater right??

Example 2

Tears on a withered Flower

In this story we follow an insecure older woman (she's like 30 something she's not that old) who begins to get courted by a younger man,and it's sweet and all until you realize that this innocent younger man has stalked her for weeks, Intensely,She works about 4 part time Jobs trying to pay off debt, he knows all her part time Jobs, the days she works and the time she gets on and off work mind you they haven't had a conversation at this point. He even orchestrated their "first meeting", he's lied to her about his family situation and finances to get sympathy from her and even has someone follow her when he's not there.

That's pretty bad right?

Exactly so the writer of the show to make him look better made the Female lead ex-husband 10 times worse by comparison, they made him a horrible partner.

Verbal abuse, Emotional abuse, Financial Abuse, the whole package. This woman's husband was the worst person I have ever had the displeasure of reading. Remember how she was working 4 jobs to pay off debt ?

It's because that idiot took out a loan he couldn't pay back, IN HER NAME!

And the Cherry on Top is the fact that they're divorced but he still lives with her because he doesn't have any money 😭😭😭😭

A BUM!

To make our conniving, manipulating, sociopathic, stalker look like the perfect man they made the option she was coming from literal horse dung, So he looked better by comparison .

If you can't tell I hate this trope , I genuinely believe that if you want to write a bad person just Do that. Own up to it .

I mean the worst villain you know is still having thirst traps of them being made on TikTok.

Write that bad person and stop trying to manipulate me and yourself.

Everyone wants to have their 6'10, CEO, Mafia, vampire Lycan moment but please have some decorum .

And stop trying to gaslight me, I've had enough 😭😭

Have a nice day and write good characters ❤️

At the end of the month, we give out prizes in 3 categories: Best Content, Top Engagers and
Most Engaged Content.
Best Content
Top Engagers
Most Engaged Content
Best Content
We give out cash prizes to between 7 and 20 community members with the best insights in the past month.
The winners are picked by an in-house selection process.
The winners are NOT picked from the leaderboards/rankings, we choose winners based on the quality, originality
and insightfulness of their content.
Here are a few other things to know for the Best Content track
1
Quality over Quantity — You stand a higher chance of winning by publishing a few really good insights across the entire month,
rather than a lot of low-quality, spammy posts.
2
Share original, authentic, and engaging content that clearly reflects your voice, thoughts, and opinions.
3
Avoid using AI to generate content—use it instead to correct grammar, improve flow, enhance structure, and boost clarity.
4
Explore audio content—high-quality audio insights can significantly boost your chances of standing out.
5
Use eye-catching cover images—if your content doesn't attract attention, it's less likely to be read or engaged with.
6
Share your content in your social circles to build engagement around it.
