Chapter Nine

A Quiet Bond

Not every storm comes with thunder.

Some arrive quietly—like a heartbeat after fear, or a breath taken in peace.

---

In the ruins of Kareth, frost and flame finally rested side by side.

Seren and Kaelara camped beneath what remained of an ancient spire. The stars above glowed brighter than either had ever seen, as if the sky itself had waited for them to meet.

For once, there were no prophecies spoken. No battles fought.

Just two sisters, learning each other in silence.

---

Kaelara sat curled beside a ring of carefully controlled fire, watching the way it warmed the stone without melting it. Seren had conjured it—small, soft. Not destructive.

Kaelara smiled. “You’re gentler than I imagined.”

Seren gave a dry laugh. “Most people don’t say that about me.”

“Most people don’t know you.”

Seren looked up. “And you… You’re not as cold as I expected.”

Kaelara raised an eyebrow. “I am literally made of ice.”

“Yes,” Seren said. “But your eyes aren’t.”

They laughed. Awkward. Honest.

A sound neither had heard from themselves in years.

---

Later, they sat back to back beneath the stars.

Kaelara spoke first. “I dreamt of you my whole life. I didn’t know your name, but I always knew there was someone else… like me.”

Seren was quiet for a moment. Then: “I used to think I was the only one who could survive. That being strong meant being alone.”

She turned her head slightly, her voice softer.

“I don’t want to believe that anymore.”

Kaelara leaned against her. “Then don’t.”

---

A breeze passed over them. Not cold. Not hot.

Balanced.

And far below, in the Hollow Flame’s prison, cracks began to form. Not from weakness—but from fear.

The sisters were becoming whole.

And something ancient was beginning to lose its grip.

At the end of the month, we give out prizes in 3 categories: Best Content, Top Engagers and
Most Engaged Content.
Best Content
Top Engagers
Most Engaged Content
Best Content
We give out cash prizes to between 7 and 20 community members with the best insights in the past month.
The winners are picked by an in-house selection process.
The winners are NOT picked from the leaderboards/rankings, we choose winners based on the quality, originality
and insightfulness of their content.
Here are a few other things to know for the Best Content track
1
Quality over Quantity — You stand a higher chance of winning by publishing a few really good insights across the entire month,
rather than a lot of low-quality, spammy posts.
2
Share original, authentic, and engaging content that clearly reflects your voice, thoughts, and opinions.
3
Avoid using AI to generate content—use it instead to correct grammar, improve flow, enhance structure, and boost clarity.
4
Explore audio content—high-quality audio insights can significantly boost your chances of standing out.
5
Use eye-catching cover images—if your content doesn't attract attention, it's less likely to be read or engaged with.
6
Share your content in your social circles to build engagement around it.

Contributor Rankings

The all-time contributors ranking is based on the Contributor Score, which is a measure of all the engagement and exposure a contributor's content receives.
The monthly contributors ranking tracks performance of a user's insights for the current month. The monthly and all-time scores are calcuated DIFFERENTLY.
