Inevitable death
<p>"Death is inevitable". </p><p>"They're in a better place". </p><p>"Cry so you'll feel better".</p><p>"God gave and he took".</p><p>These and many more were my go to for when someone died.</p><p>I've never cried for someone, well until today.</p><p>I have never been able to understand why people cried to mourn.</p><p>I've always said I wouldn't cry like that.</p><p>But I did</p><p>My heart trembled</p><p>My mind was blank</p><p>I kept replaying everything moment in my head. </p><p>"Why was I not nice to him?" </p><p>"Maybe he'll wake up soon" </p><p>"It has to be a prank" </p><p>I'm writing this because I need to vent. </p><p>I lost a friend today. </p><p>He was young. </p><p>Hadn't gotten anywhere in life. </p><p>He lost his mom years ago amd he lost his dad this year. </p><p>He had jaundice.</p><p>We live on the border of Lagos, therefore, we don't have good hospitals </p><p>I don't even think it's an hospital, more like a clinic. </p><p>He had been there since Wednesday, they didn't run no test, they kept giving him drip. </p><p>They waited till he had a few hours left before realizing tjat, "Oh this sickness is beyond us, take him somewhere that has the right facilities". </p><p>He just resumed SSS1 on Monday he was excited, very excited that he used iron with generator despite knowing it might damage it but he was too happy and he didn't care. </p><p>He was excited to copy all his notes because he resumed late. </p><p>Last conversation we had, I threatened to kick him. </p><p>I had a last chance with him and I threatened to kick him,I didn't know that few days later, he'll be dead. </p><p>He was annoying. </p><p>He was eighteen years old, started school late. </p><p>He was learning fashion designing. </p><p>He loved to play. </p><p>He also loved to annoy people. </p><p>He loved being helpful. </p><p>The worst of it all, I didn't realize we were friends till he died. </p><p>I wasn't exactly mean to him but I wasn't nice either. I also didn't know I'll be writing his name in past tense soon. </p><p>He never grumbled, he never insulted me, he'd just smile. </p><p>His condition deteriorated to the point where he entered coma. </p><p>The "clinic" wanted to maximise profit so much that they didn't release him. </p><p>"We can't blame God, now can we?"</p><p>I never knew my next insight will be about death. </p><p>I had been experiencing writer's block and it took death to bring me back on track, sad isn't it? </p><p>It's funny how you never know how things can change so fast. </p><p>I had to reconcile with everyone i wasn't on talking terms with. </p><p>Life is too short to fight with someone, I guess. </p><p>Just call your friends and relatives and apologize. </p><p>There will be another insight after this filled with anger agaonst quack medical practitioners. </p><p><br/></p><p>RIP Olamilekan. </p><p>For now, my mind stops here. </p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p>
