Picking a 'safe' career is so exhausting. Few days ago, I was watching videos on the tech industry as I'm looking to transition into tech as a supplementary career. Why supplementary?

Because, I obviously want to use my degree.

I'm new here, so here's a quick introduction. I recently graduated from university with the degree of my dreams and I'm someone who has always valued 'formal' certificates, in this case, my university degree. Because, why not...

Anyways, the world is changing in such competitive ways. An excellent degree might not be able to get you that dream life you thought of as a kid or even a teenager.

In light of this, i decided to venture into tech. I guess, I've always had a soft spot for tech. I always tell myself that if I was in the science department, I would have probably studied Computer Science. I don't know if that counts as being interested in tech.

With the rising leap in technology and the continuous discussion surrounding it, i thought to myself, why don't I study a career in tech. Also, people who I look up to advised that this will be a good step in my journey.

Also, I'm currently on holidays, I guess. My convocation is in a few months and my set hasn't been listed for the NYSC (National Youth Service Corps) programme yet, so I'm basically 'jobless', so I think this will be a perfect time to start.

With all these factors in place along with the privilege of having people in tech who would guide me, I decided that this step couldn't be more right.

However, I'm exhausted. I set out to research on the tech career that best suits me, but it has been mentally draining. Although I have people who are guiding me through this process, it still feels challenging. Artificial intelligence has really made its mark in the tech industry.

I see people on social media talk about how they hate AI, because it reduces human relevance and it is taking their jobs and I'll be like, 'its not that deep', but with what I've discovered in the past few days, I think it is.

Every tech career feels like a gamble. You are always wondering, 'Will my role be relevant in the next few years or will AI take my role'.

I was told I have to choose a field, I'm passionate about to avoid 'drastic mental burnout', but even my passions are threatened by AI.

I have to choose a field I'm passionate about, but also has a good ROI and cannot be easily threatened by AI.

Honestly, this situation makes me sacred as a graduate who has alot of dreams and aspirations. Everything just feels overwhelming. Will I be able to maximize my potential?, Will I be relevant in today's world and even in the future?, not just in the tech industry but also in my field of study.

Anyways, I hope to find a tech career soon, that ticks the countless boxes, the world is demanding.

Stay tuned to know what I will end up venturing into and why. (Hopefully I have a why...)

I'd also like to know your thoughts on this. Do you feel the same or differently.
