Recently I’ve had to reduce the focus on what I spent the last ten years plus of my life doing.

I haven’t stopped it completely, I just steered my life in another, albeit similar direction and in this month of July, i’m here to tell you it’s the best decision I ever made.

I feel like since I decided to leave in front of the camera to challenge myself in other aspects of filmmaking, my life hasn’t been the same. I kept testing my creativity, and in less than a year since I made the choice to pivot from an actor to a director slash producer, I have shot two short films, one tv show pilot and finally, my first feature film.

I say all the above to say, always experiment even in the same field. Try your hands at different aspects of the industry you’ve found yourself in, or a different industry if you’re feeling stuck, like I was as an actor.

Where you are may not be where you’re destined for, and that’s probably why you’re not making any progress, or as much. I spent over a decade crawling in my career as an actor; but have made more strides in directing and producing than i ever did while in front of the camera. Thank goodness, I realized what I was destined for before it was too late, and if you who’s reading this feel like you’re not where you think you should be, life only ends when you’re six feet under. As long as you have breath, it’s never too late to rediscover yourself and your passions.

I still act, and it’s something I’ll never abandon totally, but because I tried my hand at something else in film, I found I was good at directing and producing as well. Things I would never have realized if I hadn’t stepped out of my comfort zone.

So, it’s never too late to pursue new adventures. Go out there and explore! “Uwa wu otu”, like my late maternal grandma would say.

Meanwhile; I hope two cents will not mind if I do small shameless self promotion? Edakun, after reading this, please go to YouTube and subscribe to the YouTube channel “NollyEdgeTv.” My feature film will be out hopefully in less than a month, so hit the notification and subscribe buttons, please!

Na who talk go see food chop. Thanks and God bless!

At the end of the month, we give out prizes in 3 categories: Best Content, Top Engagers and
Most Engaged Content.
Best Content
Top Engagers
Most Engaged Content
Best Content
We give out cash prizes to between 7 and 20 community members with the best insights in the past month.
The winners are picked by an in-house selection process.
The winners are NOT picked from the leaderboards/rankings, we choose winners based on the quality, originality
and insightfulness of their content.
Here are a few other things to know for the Best Content track
1
Quality over Quantity — You stand a higher chance of winning by publishing a few really good insights across the entire month,
rather than a lot of low-quality, spammy posts.
2
Share original, authentic, and engaging content that clearly reflects your voice, thoughts, and opinions.
3
Avoid using AI to generate content—use it instead to correct grammar, improve flow, enhance structure, and boost clarity.
4
Explore audio content—high-quality audio insights can significantly boost your chances of standing out.
5
Use eye-catching cover images—if your content doesn't attract attention, it's less likely to be read or engaged with.
6
Share your content in your social circles to build engagement around it.
