<p><br/></p><p>Sixty-five years ago, <br/></p><p>We raised our flag and lowered theirs. </p><p>From colonial chains to a land declared ours, </p><p>We became independent, at least in name. </p><p>From British rule to military reigns, </p><p>To trembling hopes in democracy’s frame, </p><p>We have walked through fire. </p><p>And yet… we still stand.</p><p><br/></p><p>We have known pain,</p><p>Suffering felt in every home, </p><p>Dreams delayed by poor governance, </p><p>Power outages, broken promises, stolen futures… </p><p>And yet, we sing.</p><p><br/></p><p>Because to be Nigerian is to be </p><p>resilient.</p><p>To be Nigerian is to dance </p><p>even when the drums are broken. </p><p>To smile in suffering, </p><p>To hustle through hardship, </p><p>To rise again and again, </p><p>when the world expects us to stay down.</p><p><br/></p><p>We are the sons and daughters </p><p>of soil soaked in strength, </p><p>of mothers who made meals from nothing, </p><p>of fathers who carried nations on their backs, </p><p>of youths who protest, rebuild, create, </p><p>even when hope flickers.</p><p><br/></p><p>We are Nigeria. </p><p>Not perfect, </p><p>Not always peaceful, </p><p>But powerful in spirit, </p><p>rich in culture, </p><p>and relentless in our pursuit of better.</p><p><br/></p><p>So today, we do more than raise a flag,</p><p>We raise our heads.</p><p>We celebrate not just independence, </p><p>but the people who give it meaning.</p><p><br/></p><p>Happy 65th Independence Day. </p><p>Happy New Month. </p><p>Here’s to the strength of our past, </p><p>the courage of our present, </p><p>and the hope rising for our future. </p><p><br/></p><p>Naija no dey carry last!</p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p>
