I grew up in Ochima village to know a certain police officer who occurred to be My father's childhood friend and a Best friend, he is a gentleman and kind-hearted man to an extent that he calls me his son because he has the same name with my father. He has been in police before I grew to know him, he has always returned home with a new car, and the villagers always celebrate his achievement. Anytime he saw me coming back from school, he always stops to pick me up including my friends. I finished my school and traveled to lagos for a business until time of COVID 19 when I returned home and I saw a building project going on in his house and a story was told: I was told that over 3 years before then, that he was sacked because of some his illegal activities : 1. That All those cars he normally comes home with are peoples cars, that whenever he has a journey to make he will look for a car if his choice and seize it, with a heavy allegation labeled on the owner. You can only have your car after he has returned from his journey and he will still make you pay for heavily the crime you did not commit. A time came he was no longer satisfied with that, he decided to upgrade his game; he started lying to some Rich parents, telling them that he is in charge of police recruitment, he will charge them heavily for that, he did that over many years until report started coming to DPO of that command. The problem is not the money he has been collecting but the lies he has been telling them about the recruitment . It was when report started coming to the DPO of that command that they started giving him warning to stop such act. But he has started what he can not stop: He will go break for sometimes and come back with another strategy, this has been the case until he was sacked. This man have a second wife who is a police officer, so he has no choice but to depend on his wife's salary to maintain his steez ; the story was told that once his wife receives her salary he will collect it and squanders it, this continued until the woman can't take it anymore, she moved him out of the house, he ran to lagos and stayed with his first wife's daughter who was doing fine then in business. He spent about two years there maintaining his steez and pride, because he did not want to be laughed or mocked by anyone one. But over those days he was downloading sense, until he became fed up with the whole situations. He has an in-law who have the political will of helping him, but because he had never respected the man when he was still a police officer, he finds it so difficult to meet the man, to him all hope has been lost and the worst part was that he didn't reserve anything for the days of farmine. He has lost all hope like those in association of better yesterday who always tell their stories of when they were doing well and forgot that they have a lot of time to still make things work for them, they will feel like they have done much and have no other reason to continue, everyday you find them in drinking joints discussing about their success in the past but they don't discuss the way forward towards the future because they have come to the conclusion that the future is already gone. So this man was at this very points in life until he started to to think otherwise. A time came, he looked at himself and look at him family and see that it shouldn't be over by now, he was still very young not an old man yet his children and his wives were still young they ask himself a question why should I end it now, why there is time to make a change why shouldn't I take a new step, why shouldn't I think right, why shouldn't I act like a responsible father. So on a certain day he acted like a prodigal son he contacted his sister in-law, a sister to that rich man he said to her please help me tell your brother tell him that I am on my knees, please tell him my conditions, and know if you can be of a help to me, and the sister-in-law took his message to her brother then her brother contacted the formal police officer, and said to him "my in-law I know you have surrendered now but there's no issue I will help you" That statement "I will help you" brought a New Hope, a New beginning, a turn around, happiness, joy and peace to this man and his family. The politician contacted an IG of police and his matter was resolved, and he was called back to duty. At this point it was not that he will restored back to police but he was restore back to his former position and an order was given that those years he was not at work that they should calculate all his salaries for over 3 years that he was sacked and pay him. So the IG of police complying to that command they paid him all his salaries of over 3 years and he was restored back to his former rank he became rich overnight.
