Journalism is a profession that entails collecting, processing, and broadcasting information to a given audience, with feedback gotten in some cases. For it to be considered a profession, it should have certain rules and official laws that govern it. Hence, there are roles that this profession plays in society, as well as stakes it faces.
Journalism plays a crucial role in society by providing accurate, timely, and unbiased information to the public.
Journalists act as watchdogs, holding those in power accountable for their actions and decisions, and help to inform and educate citizens, enabling them to make informed choices. Journalists often work under tight deadlines and in challenging situations, and their work can have a significant impact on public opinion and policy.
The stakes of journalism are high, as the information provided can determine public discourse and influence decisions made by governments, businesses, and individuals. The media has the power to shape public opinion, and it is therefore essential that journalists uphold ethical standards and strive for accuracy, fairness, and impartiality in their reporting. Some societies consider journalism to be the 4th power (that is, after the Executive, Legislative, and Judiciary powers).
However, the stakes are also high for journalists themselves, as they often face significant risks in their line of work. These risks can include physical danger, professional attacks, and even life threats. Moreover, journalists must show proof of indifference and zero influence in the pursuit of objective reporting, and they must contend with the challenges posed by the ever-evolving media landscape, including the rise of social media, the proliferation of fake news, and the sprouting of untrained people who tag themselves as journalists.
In conclusion, journalism plays a vital role in society and carries significant stakes. Journalists must be committed to upholding the highest ethical standards and ensure that the information they provide is accurate, fair, and unbiased. At the same time, they must be aware of and navigate the risks and challenges inherent in their profession.

I will greatly appreciate anything you wish to tip me, for I know how we all face the daily struggles of getting our daily bread.
At the end of the month, we give out prizes in 3 categories: Best Content, Top Engagers and
Most Engaged Content.
Best Content
Top Engagers
Most Engaged Content
Best Content
We give out cash prizes to between 7 and 20 community members with the best insights in the past month.
The winners are picked by an in-house selection process.
The winners are NOT picked from the leaderboards/rankings, we choose winners based on the quality, originality
and insightfulness of their content.
Here are a few other things to know for the Best Content track
1
Quality over Quantity — You stand a higher chance of winning by publishing a few really good insights across the entire month,
rather than a lot of low-quality, spammy posts.
2
Share original, authentic, and engaging content that clearly reflects your voice, thoughts, and opinions.
3
Avoid using AI to generate content—use it instead to correct grammar, improve flow, enhance structure, and boost clarity.
4
Explore audio content—high-quality audio insights can significantly boost your chances of standing out.
5
Use eye-catching cover images—if your content doesn't attract attention, it's less likely to be read or engaged with.
6
Share your content in your social circles to build engagement around it.
