Six Months to a "Yes"
<p><br/></p><p>Love didn’t arrive loud for me—</p><p>it came like a quiet knock I almost missed.</p><p>She stood there, soft-spoken,</p><p>and I stood there, overthinking everything.</p><p>We were shy in the beginning,</p><p>two people circling something fragile,</p><p>speaking in half-sentences,</p><p>laughing at things that weren’t really jokes</p><p>just to fill the silence.</p><p>I waited.</p><p>Not days. Not weeks.</p><p>Six whole months of maybe, of almost,</p><p>of “let’s see where this goes.”</p><p>And I stayed—</p><p>not because I had nothing better,</p><p>but because something in me already knew</p><p>she was worth the patience.</p><p>When the “yes” finally came,</p><p>it didn’t feel like a moment—</p><p>it felt like a reward.</p><p>But I won’t lie,</p><p>I didn’t love perfectly.</p><p>I was there too much,</p><p>wanted her time like it was mine to claim,</p><p>held on too tightly</p><p>like love could slip through my fingers if I loosened my grip.</p><p>I was a little controlling,</p><p>a little too invested in every small thing—</p><p>a late reply, a change in tone,</p><p>the tiniest shift could shake me.</p><p>My emotions moved like waves,</p><p>rising and falling over things</p><p>that probably didn’t deserve that much power.</p><p>Still, I loved her—</p><p>deeply, loudly, in ways I didn’t yet understand.</p><p>I showed up, I cared hard,</p><p>I tried, even when I got it wrong.</p><p>And she—</p><p>she was patient in ways I didn’t earn,</p><p>soft where I was intense,</p><p>steady where I was unsure.</p><p>She loved me back.</p><p>Not loudly, but truly.</p><p>With care, with tolerance,</p><p>with a kind of calm that held us together</p><p>even when I didn’t know how to.</p><p>Looking back,</p><p>it wasn’t perfect love—</p><p>it was young, learning love.</p><p>But it was real.</p><p>And for the first time,</p><p>that was enough.</p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p>
