Spoken word poetry (letting go)

Letting Go

I used to think letting go was simple…

just a decision.

just silence where words used to be.

But now, when I hear “letting go,”

it feels like a completely different phrase…

with a heavier meaning.

Letting go isn’t just leaving.

It comes with pain…

closure…

regret sometimes…

guilt…

anger…

sadness…

loneliness.

All of it… at once.

And somehow,

you still choose closure.

Not because you are scared…

but because staying

hurts more than leaving ever could.

Letting go takes courage.

Because there is guilt in waiting too long…

thinking maybe it could turn out differently…

even when you’re not sure you’re ready for that “different.”

And all those “maybe’s” start to fight inside you…

maybe it gets better…

maybe I’ll be fine…

maybe I don’t care…

but at the end…

you care more than you admit.

Letting go hurts more than acceptance.

And you are never fine instantly…

you are only fine when you finally are.

Moments of outbursts…

silence…

anger…

sadness…

until it slowly stops feeling like breaking.

And maybe one day…

I’ll stop remembering how it felt to hold on.
