The way she hated being called dramatic.</p><p>He made her feel seen.</p><p>So when he cheated, Maya didn't just lose a boyfriend.</p><p>She lost the version of herself that believed she could trust someone completely.</p><p>“Why wasn't I enough?” she asked.</p><p>Daniel looked at her.</p><p>“You were.”</p><p>She waited for more.</p><p>“You were enough,” he repeated. “I just wanted something else.”</p><p>That answer somehow hurt more than you weren't enough would have.</p><p>For weeks, Maya barely recognized herself.</p><p>Then Ryan appeared.</p><p>He was different.</p><p>At least, that's what she thought.</p><p>He checked on her constantly. He wanted to know where she was. He didn't like other men around her.</p><p>After Daniel, Maya mistook possessiveness for protection.</p><p>One evening, Ryan showed up outside her apartment unexpectedly.</p><p>“I came to see you.”</p><p>Maya smiled.</p><p>“That's sweet.”</p><p>Ryan didn't smile back.</p><p>“Who were you talking to earlier?”</p><p>Maya's smile disappeared.</p><p>And for the first time, she wondered if she had mistaken control for love again.</p><p><strong>What Maya learned: Someone being obsessed with you doesn't automatically mean they value you.</strong></p><p>But she didn't leave.</p><p>And that decision would change everything.</p>
