The illusion of being busy

The Illusion of Being “Busy”

A lot of people mistake movement for progress. We fill our days with tasks, notifications, meetings, and endless to-do lists, then fall asleep feeling exhausted but strangely unfulfilled. Being busy gives us comfort,it feels like proof that we’re trying. But effort without direction is just noise.

Real progress is often quiet. It looks like saying no to distractions, sitting with discomfort, and choosing one meaningful thing over ten easy ones. That’s why it’s scary. When you slow down, you can’t hide behind activity anymore. You’re forced to confront whether what you’re doing actually matters.

Busyness is easy. Intention is hard. But only one of them changes your life.
