The last voice note by Miwa✨✍️

Miwa✨ ✍️

The Last Voice Note

At exactly 11:47 p.m., she opened their chat again.

She had done it so many times that night, she had stopped counting.

Their last conversation was still there.

A simple message from him:

"Have you eaten?"

She smiled sadly.

It was such an ordinary question, yet somehow it felt like the most precious thing in the world now.

She typed, “Yes.”

Then deleted it.

She typed, “I miss you.”

Deleted that too.

Finally, she pressed play on the last voice note he had sent.

His voice filled the quiet room.

For a few seconds, she forgot everything.

She could almost imagine him sitting beside her, laughing at something silly, complaining about his day, and asking why she always stayed awake so late.

The voice note ended.

She played it again.

And again.

Then she realized something painful.

She wasn't listening because she wanted to hear what he had said.

She was listening because she was afraid that one day, she wouldn't remember his voice anymore.

She placed the phone on her chest and closed her eyes.

Sometimes, losing someone isn't just about losing their presence.

It's losing the little things too—their voice, their jokes, the way they said your name, the random questions they asked, and the ordinary moments you never realized were becoming memories.

She opened the chat one last time.

Her fingers hovered over the keyboard.

Then she typed:

"I wish I had known that was our last conversation."

She didn't send it.

There was nowhere to send it anymore.

And that was when she finally cried.

Not because she wanted him back.

But because she finally understood that some goodbyes happen without anyone saying goodbye.

Have you ever looked back at an ordinary moment and wished you knew how important it would become?
