The Mask Held
<p>Couldn't they see it? </p><p>The pain I'm carrying? </p><p>Are they just oblivious to it ?</p><p>Or did I carry it well? </p><p><br/></p><p>Was the mask I had on really that good in hiding my pain? </p><p>While I comforted everyone, no is there for me</p><p>I give them a shoulder to cry on, while I still find one for myself</p><p><br/></p><p>I almost forgot to laugh today, again </p><p>My friends were making silly jokes, everyone laughed and it took me a while to remember I had to laugh too</p><p>In my ears, the laughter sounded like a lie</p><p>Couldn't they hear it too? </p><p>Was I really that good at pretending?</p><p><br/></p><p>When I look in the mirror, I see a girl with scars</p><p>A girl breaking piece by piece </p><p>A girl who has nothing to live for </p><p>But when they look at me do they see this? </p><p>Or do they see a normal girl? The old me? </p><p><br/></p><p>I wanted to scream today </p><p>It felt like screaming could help </p><p>I wanted to scream at the people I called friends </p><p>I wanted to tell them, "look at me! Can't you see the pain I'm carrying?!" </p><p>But I didn't </p><p>Instead, I smiled again and pretended that I wasn't dead on the inside </p><p><br/></p><p>I am tired of masking my pain </p><p>I don't know who to tell</p><p>Will they listen? Since they can't notice this pain I'm carrying now? </p><p>Was I really that unimportant to them? </p><p>Didn't they care about me? </p><p><br/></p><p>No, no, no, </p><p>Of course they care</p><p>I'm just good at hiding my pain, right? </p><p><br/></p><p>My heart grows heavier by the day </p><p>I wish and pray for someone to finally notice my pain, the way I notice theirs before they say a word </p><p>No one noticed, again </p><p><br/></p><p>Why didn't they notice? </p><p>Why? </p><p>Why?</p>
