What do Eastern states in Nigeria need to do to produce the next Igbo president?

A united southeast is the pathway to national leadership.

To produce the next Igbo President of Nigeria, the Southeast must move beyond regional agitation and embrace strategic engagement. The path to national leadership lies not in protest alone, but in diplomacy, unity, and active participation in the Nigerian political process.

Diplomacy involves the peaceful management of relationships and interests. The Igbo people must build bridges across regions, foster mutual understanding, and pursue their political goals through dialogue, cooperation, and national integration rather than confrontation.

Unity is essential. The Southeast must speak with one voice. Political leaders, stakeholders, youth, and citizens must come together to pursue a common objective. Internal divisions weaken the region’s bargaining power, while collective action strengthens its influence.

Political participation is also critical. Igbos must rise above political apathy by actively registering and voting during elections. Citizens within the Southeast and those living in other parts of Nigeria must be mobilized to participate fully in the democratic process. In addition, the Igbo diaspora should be encouraged and supported to remain politically engaged and contribute to national development.

Furthermore, hostile rhetoric must give way to constructive engagement. The spirit of communalism, which has always been a strength of the Igbo people, should be revived. Through cooperation, mutual support, and a shared vision, the region can present a strong and credible front.

Ultimately, producing an Igbo President will not happen through demands alone. It will come through unity, strategic alliances, national acceptance, and consistent political involvement.

When the Southeast organizes, participates, builds relationships, and speaks with one voice, the dream of an Igbo President will no longer be a distant aspiration ,it will become a national reality.

Best Content
We give out cash prizes to between 7 and 20 community members with the best insights in the past month.
The winners are picked by an in-house selection process.
The winners are NOT picked from the leaderboards/rankings, we choose winners based on the quality, originality
and insightfulness of their content.
Here are a few other things to know for the Best Content track
1
Quality over Quantity — You stand a higher chance of winning by publishing a few really good insights across the entire month,
rather than a lot of low-quality, spammy posts.
2
Share original, authentic, and engaging content that clearly reflects your voice, thoughts, and opinions.
3
Avoid using AI to generate content—use it instead to correct grammar, improve flow, enhance structure, and boost clarity.
4
Explore audio content—high-quality audio insights can significantly boost your chances of standing out.
5
Use eye-catching cover images—if your content doesn't attract attention, it's less likely to be read or engaged with.
