WHEN I SPOKE BACK

In the silence, a voice found me and said:

"Loneliness"

is when laughter fades,

and the ones you smiled with are suddenly gone.

You feel empty,

like a vessel lost at sea,

adrift in waters no one sees.

Everyone feels far,

even when they’re near.

But I spoke back, and whispered

Why?

Does my presence push people away?

Am I not enough,

not up to their standard,

or simply not worth choosing?

Maybe I’m with the wrong crowd,

never where I truly belong.

I always feel like

the last choice

if a choice at all.

But maybe

I just need to step back,

to search for those who see my worth,

who accept me as I am.

If some don’t appreciate my presence,

surely there are souls

God has destined

to recognize my essence

and treasure it.

When neglect surrounds me like a fog,

I will rise

leave the crowd that dims my light,

and find the ones

who make me feel seen.

Now I know

Sometimes, you're placed with people

who can't see your worth

not to break you,

but to teach you.

I’m growing now,

and I'm glad I’ve left the place

where I never truly belonged.

I rise,

and lift my eyes to the sky

a rising star

ready to shine.

Don’t be sad.

This is the beginning

of my becoming.
