Why Do We Hide When We’re Struggling?

Have you ever had a bad day but still told someone, “I’m fine”?

I think most of us have done it.

Sometimes, you don't want people to know what you're going through. Not because you don't need help, but because you don't know how they will react.

Will they judge you?

Will they think you're weak?

Will they actually understand?

So you just keep everything to yourself.

You laugh, gist with people, reply messages and act like everything is okay.

But deep down, you're not okay.

I've done this too.

But recently, I realized something. Having someone who actually listens to you can make a big difference.

Not someone who is always trying to give advice or tell you what you did wrong.

Just someone who listens.

Someone you can talk to without worrying about being judged.

And honestly, I'm grateful to have someone like that.

It made me realize that sometimes we don't need someone to solve everything for us. We just need someone who will sit with us, listen and remind us that we don't have to carry everything alone.

You never really know what someone is dealing with behind their smile.

So maybe we should check on people more.

And when someone finally decides to open up to you, maybe just listen.

Sometimes, that's enough.
