ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE: TO BUILD OR TO DESTROY?

“Just ask AI.”

How many times have we heard—or said—that lately?

Assignment due tomorrow? Ask AI.

No idea what to write? Ask AI.

Need a picture? Ask AI.

Need an answer? Ask AI.

Funny, isn't it? We have become so comfortable with Artificial Intelligence that asking a machine for help sometimes feels more natural than asking the person sitting beside us.

And honestly, there is nothing wrong with using AI. Absolutely nothing!

The problem begins when “help me” quietly becomes “do it for me.”

AI is one of the most fascinating developments of our generation. It can help us learn, create, research, communicate and solve problems in ways that were almost unimaginable a few years ago. For students especially, it can be an incredible tool—if we know how to use it properly.

But every powerful tool has the potential to become dangerous in careless hands.

Think about it. If AI writes every assignment, where does our own thinking go? If it creates every idea, what happens to our creativity? If we accept every answer it gives us without questioning it, are we actually becoming smarter—or simply becoming better at copying?

And then there is the bigger picture.

AI can be used to create misinformation, manipulate what people see online, invade privacy and make it increasingly difficult to distinguish between what is real and what is manufactured. The technology itself may not have bad intentions, but humans certainly can.

So, is AI here to build or to destroy?

Maybe that is the wrong question sef.

A knife can prepare a meal or cause harm. Electricity can power a hospital or cause an accident. Social media can connect millions of people or spread misinformation across the world.

The tool is not always the problem.

The person holding the tool matters.

AI is not here to replace our brains. It is here to challenge us to use them better.

So, let's not become the generation that was given one of the greatest technological tools in history and used it simply to avoid thinking.

Let AI help us write, but let us have something worth writing.

Let it help us learn, but let us do the learning.

Let it make our work easier, but never let it make us intellectually lazy.

Because the future will not simply be built by AI.

It will be built by people who know how to use AI wisely.

And if we get it wrong?

Well...

We won't be able to blame the machine, would we?
