Beautiful. Life is Beautiful.
<p>Amidst the chaos and madness of the world, I have witnessed beauty.</p><p>I have seen parents welcome a child after years of waiting, and I have seen the rainbow magnificently grace the skyline after a terrific rainstorm.</p><p><br/></p><p>The sun? I have felt her rays on my skin like my mother's tender touch, day in, day out, and I must confess that the yellow ball of fire, fierce as it is, is strikingly beautiful.</p><p><br/></p><p>I have seen landscapes and walked through extensive greenery and in them, felt pristine air. I have seen children get lost in the game of suwe, hopping around like carefree frogs, and I have heard goats bleat in rhythm. </p><p><br/></p><p>Haven't you seen these beauties too? Seen the protective feather shield of a Mother hen over her chicks on the overhead passage of the Hawk? Seen the gentility of a stream flowing down hill or the way a camera clicks and births a frozen moment encased in a frame?</p><p>Haven't you?  </p><p>Beautiful. Life is beautiful.</p><p><br/></p><p> But you see, the tragedy of our existence is, sometimes, we fail to look and behold, to recognize these beauties staring us in the face.</p><p><br/></p><p>We lament what's missing and fail to notice what's present. We sulk over the door of opportunity that did not open, but forget the window through which the soul-soothing breeze of the evening gets to us.</p><p><br/></p><p>But beauty lives here, right under our noses and never far from the reach of our sight and the touch of our hands.</p><p><br/></p><p><img alt="" src="/media/inline_insight_image/1000350054.jpg"/></p><p><br/></p><p>Beauty is in the smell of rain meeting dry Earth and the tender yam tendril extending itself towards the nourishing ray of sunlight. You see the way those bare chested teenagers across your street chase after a ball before the fall of dusk? That's beauty. </p><p><br/></p><p>Beauty is in Chimamanda's <em>Purple Hibiscus</em>, in the way the immaculate ixora flower blooms and the communal gathering of <em>Umunna</em> at Papa Eugene's country home.</p><p><br/></p><p>Beauty is in the soft chuckle of a baby and the dance of a toddler, in a library's stack of books, pile of knowledge and rewarding silence. Beauty is in a steaming cup of hot coffee and a slice of cake.</p><p><span style="background-color: transparent;">Beauty is in us, with us and all around us.</span></p><p><br/></p><p>Beautiful. Life is Beautiful.</p>
