BIRDS HUNTER:AS A KIDS.

Gone are the days when I was living in a town named Ogbomoso. Ogbomoso North LGA to be precise. Area called "Stadium", where life was fun and full of beautiful memories. For you that have not been to Ogbomoso before, make I tell you. Ogbomoso is the second largest town in Oyo State, after Ibadan. It was split into two major parts: Ogbomoso North and South. Together they make up six local governments. Now you can imagine how big Ogbomoso is, to you that dey ridicule my town 😂 Back to my story. I'm Ogbomoso born and bred. I made friends with almost everybody on my street. A place called "BB Hostel". We were living in the vicinity of students, and Ladoke Akintola University was not far. So the students living around there named the street BB Hostel. Then there were particular friends we were very close to then: Wale, his immediate brother Joshua, and Bukola. The four of us? We were the real deal when it comes to bird hunting. We played strategy roles. We planned. We did teamwork. We mapped out which street to go hunt birds the next day. We even got to the level of making cages with tree branches. Set a trap inside it to attract birds, and placed the cage on trees or over uncompleted buildings. I hope you guys dey follow me for each line... 😂😂 I recall a time when we went far beyond our area. We moved as a team down to Katakua area. That place then was undeveloped. Everywhere looked scary. But whenever we saw each other and locked hands together, every fear disappeared. I guess you sensed the power of teamwork and believing in one another there. That was just who we were. Thankfully, we caught a lot of birds that day. And this time, we didn’t even set a trap. We just got lucky. Every bird was caught in its own housing. I believe you dey wonder, "Did you guys get home safely? Unharmed that day?" Yes. We got home safely. All of us. But... in due time. And here comes the hard part. I know you wey dey read this, you expect am to happen. Our parents were outside, ranting and shouting our names as if we were lost. Though they knew we moved as a team, not getting home on time was their top concern. We reached home, and hot cane had been reserved for every one of us. Each parent took their child and went to their various houses. Then the sound came. _Pah!_ Strike of cane landed on my back warmly. Like say e dey wait for me to cry so hard. But as omo ogbon wey get street orientation, how you wan take hear say big boy like me dey cry on top that small beating? Guy na lie. I cry my eye ball... 😂😂😂 And the sad part? That one day experience made us stop hunting birds. None of us wanted to experience the lesson our parents taught us that night.
