The sky was wrong.‎‎Not dark.‎Not bright.‎‎It looked… broken.‎‎Kairo stood in the middle of a cracked battlefield. The ground beneath him was dry, split, and filled with glowing red fractures like wounds in the earth. Burned trees stood frozen mid-fall, and the sky above was torn open by massive, slow–moving gears floating through time.‎‎This wasn’t his world.‎‎This was a future.‎‎Aira’s voice echoed behind him.‎‎“This is what happens… if you lose.”‎‎Kairo turned to her.‎“You showed me this on purpose?”‎‎Aira’s eyes shimmered with quiet fear.‎“You needed to see it before you become it.”‎‎Something shifted in the air.‎‎A heavy presence.‎‎A slow clap.‎‎Kairo turned forward — and felt his chest tighten.‎‎Someone was standing there.‎‎White hair.‎Same face.‎Same height.‎‎But colder eyes.‎‎Dark cracks of red energy ran along his arms like scars made of time itself. His katana hovered beside him without being touched, floating, humming with unstable power.‎‎It was him.‎‎Or rather…‎‎What he could become.‎‎“So…” the future Kairo said, his voice low and hollow.‎“They finally let you see me.”‎‎Kairo’s hand tightened around his sword.‎“You’re not me.”‎‎The future version smiled.‎‎“I am what you become when you stop trying.”‎‎The ground shook.‎‎The sky shifted.‎‎Time fragments rose into the air like broken glass.‎‎Future Kairo stepped closer.‎‎“You can’t save everyone,” he said.‎“You can’t fix everything. And when you fail… you fall apart.”‎‎Kairo felt his breathing get heavier.‎‎“What happened?” he asked.‎‎Future Kairo looked away for the first time.‎‎“I lost Shin.”‎“I couldn’t protect Master Ryuga.”‎“And Aira…”‎‎He paused.‎‎“I watched her fade out of existence.”‎‎The words hit harder than any blade.‎‎Kairo’s mind filled with flashes — Shin smiling, Ryuga’s calm voice, Aira’s quiet guidance.‎‎“You think I wanted to end like this?” the future version whispered.‎“I just stopped caring.”‎‎Suddenly, the air shifted again.‎‎A distortion.‎‎The sky cracked open.‎‎A deep, warped laughter echoed through the broken clouds.‎‎Seraphis.‎‎His presence distorted the air without him even appearing.‎‎“You see now…” his voice echoed from everywhere.‎“This future isn’t a warning. It’s a promise.”‎‎The world began collapsing.‎‎The ground started folding in on itself.‎‎Aira grabbed Kairo’s arm.‎‎“You have to leave — now!”‎‎Future Kairo walked toward him one last time.‎‎“If you ever stop fighting… you’ll become me.”‎‎A bright blue light exploded from Kairo’s blade.‎‎The world shattered like glass.‎‎‎Kairo woke up.‎‎He was back in the present.‎‎Cold sweat covered his face.‎‎His heart was racing.‎‎He looked at his hands.‎‎They were shaking.‎‎Aira knelt beside him.‎‎“That future isn’t fixed,” she whispered.‎“It only happens if you give up.”‎‎Kairo slowly clenched his fist.‎‎“I won’t.”‎‎Outside, the sky was calm.‎‎But far away, beyond time itself…‎‎Seraphis was watching.‎‎And smiling.
