<p>Chapter 2</p><p>His dad was more neutral. He didn’t say much. Just the occasional nod and polite smile. But silence can be loud too.</p><p><br/></p><p>The hardest part? Anita was sweet. Too sweet. She’d check up on Kelvin, greet me with a hug when she visited, and act like nothing was going on. I didn’t hate her I just hated the position I was in.</p><p><br/></p><p>One day, on our way back from a visit, I couldn’t hold it anymore.  </p><p>“Kelvin, do they like me at all?” I asked.</p><p><br/></p><p>He was quiet for a while, then said, “They don’t know you like I do. Give them time.”</p><p>I wanted to believe him. I really did. But each visit chipped away at my peace. Each passive comment, every comparison, the constant reminder that I was not “Anita.”</p><p><br/></p><p>Still, I stayed. For love. For the moments that felt real between me and him.  </p><p>But I was slowly starting to wonder...  </p><p>Was love enough?</p>
