“Enough” Is a Word for the Wise

It was a random scroll.

Nothing intentional.

Just one of those nights where you keep swiping… not really looking for anything, just passing time.

Then I heard it.

“A word is enough for the wise…”

I’ve heard that before.

Many times, actually.

But this time, it didn’t pass.

I didn’t scroll immediately.

I didn’t move on like I usually would.

Because something about it stayed.

Not loud.

Not dramatic.

Just… there.

Sitting quietly in my mind.

And then it shifted.

“Enough is a word for the wise.”

That one didn’t just stay,

it followed me.

Into my thoughts.

Into my silence.

Because it didn’t feel like a quote anymore.

It felt like a question.

Like something asking me

what have you been hearing… but refusing to accept?

“A word is enough for the wise,” they say.

But what if the real word… is enough?

Because understanding is one thing.

Application is another.

We hear advice all the time.

“Rest.”

“Move on.”

“Let it go.”

“Focus.”

“Stop overthinking.”

We nod.

We agree.

We even repeat it to others.

But when it comes to ourselves…

We don’t stop.

We keep going where we’re not valued.

We keep trying where it’s clearly draining.

We keep holding on to things that have already ended.

Not because we don’t understand

but because we don’t accept enough.

Enough of the stress.

Enough of the excuses.

Enough of the back and forth.

Enough of convincing ourselves that something will change

when it has shown us, over and over, that it won’t.

Being wise is not just about hearing a word.

It’s about knowing when that word is enough.

Enough to walk away.

Enough to pause.

Enough to choose differently.

Because sometimes, the clarity is already there.

We’ve seen the signs.

We’ve felt the patterns.

We’ve had that quiet realization more than once.

But we keep negotiating with it.

We tell ourselves: “Maybe one more try.”

“Maybe this time will be different.”

“Maybe I’m overreacting.”

Until “maybe” becomes a loop.

And “enough” never comes.

But growth?

Growth often starts where “enough” begins.

The moment you stop over-explaining.

The moment you stop overextending.

The moment you decide that clarity doesn’t need to be repeated to be valid.

Wisdom is not just in hearing the right words.

It’s in recognizing

when you’ve heard enough

to finally act.

ENOUGH IS A WORD FOR THE WISE! 🧏‍
