Jobs I’m Not Comfortable Seeing Men Do: Part 2— Waxing Technician

Okay, so this one might sound even more ridiculous, but hear me out. 😂 Another thing I personally cannot imagine a man doing to me is waxing. Again, I know it is a normal profession. I know men do it professionally and I'm sure some of them are very good at what they do. But me? Abeg, give me a woman.

I came across a woman talking about how she had a lot of hair down there and she needed to get waxed, and na so she go open nyash for the man to do his work. Goshhhh 😭😭😂 The moment I heard that, I just knew I could never be that woman. Just imagine man dey wax my nyash and I accidentally fart in the process. CHISOSSSSS 😭😭😭😭 I will simply evaporate. 😂😂😂

Let’s be honest, waxing is already an intimate and slightly humiliating experience. You're there trying to maintain your composure while somebody is applying wax to very private parts of your body, and then they tell you, “Relax.” Madam, how exactly? 😭

Now imagine the person holding that wax is a man. Omo, I will forget every single thing I came there to do. I'll just be lying there looking at the ceiling and asking myself, “Nimmat, who sent you?” 😂

And before you people start with, “But he's a professional.” I KNOW. “It's his job.” I KNOWWW. “He has probably seen hundreds of women.” I KNOW!

That doesn't magically make me comfortable.

I can completely understand that he's doing his job and still prefer a woman to do mine. Those two things can exist at the same time.

For me, there's just a different kind of comfort that comes with having another woman handle something that private. She understands the awkwardness. She understands the embarrassment. She understands that sometimes you don't even want to talk, you just want the whole thing to finish so you can collect yourself and leave. 😂

And waxing itself? Please. The pain alone is enough embarrassment for one day. Imagine me screaming because someone just ripped half my soul out with a strip of wax and then having a man standing there trying to maintain professional composure.

No sir. 😭

I'd rather suffer with my fellow woman.

And you sef, guys, make I ask una something. You go like make woman dey wax you for that area? I already know say una go dey shout, ‘Yessss!’ Ashawoooo😭😭😂😂

Omoooo maybe I'm being dramatic. Maybe some women genuinely don't care who does it as long as the job is done properly. And honestly, that's completely fine. If you're comfortable with a male waxing technician, good for you.

But if I enter a beauty parlour and they tell me there are two technicians available, a man and a woman, I am not even thinking twice.

“Madam, which one would you like?”

The woman, please.

Thank you. 😂

Because there are just some things I don't want to experience with a man if I have a choice.

And waxing is definitely one of them.

Abeg, let me be comfortable in my suffering.

And that's Part Two.

Because I still have one more profession that I have VERY strong feelings about.

Don't worry.

We'll get there. 😂
