👁️Identity Crisis

Sometimes I stare at my reflection too long.

Not because I think I’m pretty,

but because I’m trying to find the person everyone keeps saying I am.

It’s strange

how I can know my name,

my birthday, my favorite color,

and still feel like a stranger in my own skin.

People say, “Just be yourself,”

and I smile like I understand what that means.

But which self?

The quiet one who feels everything too deeply,

or the loud one who laughs so no one asks what’s wrong?

Some days I wake up feeling like sunlight.

Other days, like a shadow that doesn’t know who it belongs to.

I scroll through photos of me

and wonder how I can look so alive

and still feel so missing.

It’s like I’m always switching masks,

the smart one, the kind one, the funny one,

trying them on

to see which one will finally fit.

But when the night comes

and the world goes quiet,

I peel everything off,

the smile, the voice, the pretending,

and it’s just me,

bare, unsure, and painfully real.

And maybe that’s okay.

Maybe I’m not meant to have it all figured out yet.

Maybe finding myself

isn’t about discovering something new,

but about coming home

to everything I’ve always been,

just hidden under the noise.

So if you ask who I am,

I’ll whisper,

I’m still becoming.

And for now,

that’s the truest thing I know.
