It's funny how joy can turn sour, tell me why I developed aquaphobia out of the blues.

I'm Joey , I love nature's beauty especially the sea.I would always wade in the water when we got to the beach .

I had two friends Kira and Sally , they were the best girls in my life after mom of course.

We all loved the water and often played games at the beach.

During the summer staycation we went to bask in the sun and wade in the water as we often did . Sally had a new game to introduce. It was a game to determine how long we could stay underwater, we all obliged and played the first round. Sally could barely last 5 seconds and thus had to lick soured lemons.

We rested a while and went for another round, this time 2 minutes passed and Sally hadn't come up , we waited for 3 more minutes and found it disturbing that Sally still hasn't surfaced, because she could barely last a minute underwater . We both dived and couldn't find Sally so we called for help and the life guards sprung into action.

Sally was found 2 hours later _ cold and lifeless across the riff , the story being that she got water in her lungs , lost consciousness and the tide swept her, Poor Sally. This news made the air so thick you could actually cut it with a knife.

Sally's mom and everyone wailed at the sight of her fragile little body . Potentials of a great doctor stolen by the sea we once called friend .

The whole scene replayed in my head and it made no sense it was JUST A GAME but the thought of how it metamorphosed and birthed tragedy still baffles me .

Maybe we shouldn't have played the game , maybe we shouldn't have made her lick sour lemons , maybe we shouldn't have made her feel the need of improving her diving skills, maybe we shouldn't have gone to the beach , maybe we should never have gotten so accustomed to the sea , just maybe , my dearest Sally would have walked through high school together with Kira and I . If only wishes were horses . I can only hope Sally's in a better place away from the sea .

Ever since the incident I had a different view of the sea , I once believed it was a source of life and beauty but now I see it as an element that takes life, the entity that reduced our perfect triangle . I no longer long for the sea , my favourite place now haunts me.

At the end of the month, we give out prizes in 3 categories: Best Content, Top Engagers and
Most Engaged Content.
Best Content
Top Engagers
Most Engaged Content
Best Content
We give out cash prizes to between 7 and 20 community members with the best insights in the past month.
The winners are picked by an in-house selection process.
The winners are NOT picked from the leaderboards/rankings, we choose winners based on the quality, originality
and insightfulness of their content.
Here are a few other things to know for the Best Content track
1
Quality over Quantity — You stand a higher chance of winning by publishing a few really good insights across the entire month,
rather than a lot of low-quality, spammy posts.
2
Share original, authentic, and engaging content that clearly reflects your voice, thoughts, and opinions.
3
Avoid using AI to generate content—use it instead to correct grammar, improve flow, enhance structure, and boost clarity.
4
Explore audio content—high-quality audio insights can significantly boost your chances of standing out.
5
Use eye-catching cover images—if your content doesn't attract attention, it's less likely to be read or engaged with.
6
Share your content in your social circles to build engagement around it.

Monthly Score
The Top Monthly Contributors ranking is a monthly metric indicating how users respond to your posts, not just how many you publish.
We look at three main things:
1
How strong your best post is —
Your highest-scoring post this month carries the most weight. One great post can take you far.
2
How consistent the engagement you receive is —
We also look at the average score of all your posts. If your work keeps getting good reactions, you get a boost.
3
How consistent the engagement you receive is —
Posting more helps — but only a little.
Extra posts give a small bonus that grows slowly, so quality always matters more than quantity.
In simple terms:
A great post beats many ignored posts
Consistently engaging posts beat one lucky hit
Spamming low-engagement posts won't help
Tips, comments, and upvotes from others matter most
This ranking is designed to reward
Thoughtful, high-quality posts
Real engagement from the community
Consistency over time — without punishing you for posting again
The Top Monthly Contributors leaderboard reflects what truly resonates, not just who posts the most.
