MID-DAY CONVERSATIONS

Me: Hey bro,

‎Can you pour a shot for me?

‎

‎Bartender: Aren’t you a teen?

‎

‎Me: Yeah, exactly, eighteen.

‎

‎Bartender: Quit playing with me, kid.

‎

‎Me: I’m sorry, just needed something to get the day on its feet.

‎

‎Bartender: Girl issues? Boy issues?

‎

‎Me: Boy issues? Hm?

‎Let’s say “me” issues.

‎They say I’m in a phase.

‎But let’s be real, if this is a phase, I don’t think I’m making it out of this maze.

‎If this is a game, I just want to know what level this is.

‎

‎It’s getting quite hard, you know.

‎It’s like I could see the gold from afar.

‎Then I got close, realized it’s fake, just a mirage.

‎I need a garage.

‎

‎Bartender: A garage?

‎

‎Me: Yeah, a garage. You know, when cars get messed up, you take them to a garage to get them fixed up.

‎So I’m in need of a garage.

‎So can I get that shot now?

‎

‎Bartender: Not a chance in hell.

‎

‎Look, kid. Life’s life; you win some, you lose some; that’s the thrill of it.

‎But here’s the thing: nothing lasts as long as the lowest of lows, especially when you’ve kissed the sky.

‎So you’re going to be here a while.

‎You might as well get a coat, ’cause it’s going to get stormy and cold.

‎And bro, you don’t want to be caught off guard by the storm.

‎

‎Look me in the eye, be calm.

‎The road to self-discovery is like that of a sewer; it’s pretty shitty.

‎I’m old enough to have a few strands of grey hair on my face…

‎

‎Me: A few?

‎

‎Bartender: You’re a funny kid.

‎But still, as old as I am, I can confidently tell you I haven’t fully discovered myself.

‎It’s a lifetime journey.

‎

‎That’s all I have for you, kid.

‎Now leave my bar.

‎

‎Me: Leave?

‎

‎Bartender: Yes, leave.

‎

‎Me: I don’t know if you are aware, but we are the same person. This conversation isn’t real; it’s just happening in His head.

‎

‎Bartender: Whose head?

‎

‎Me: You know what? Never mind. Thanks for the advice though.
