Nature Never Stopped Teaching
<p>Some of the best inventions in the world weren’t created by humans, but inspired by nature and this is where biomimicry comes in. Biomimicry is the practice of solving human challenges by emulating the time-tested strategies, designs and processes found in nature or we could say "to imitate life". It operates on the principle that nature has already solved many of the problems humans are facing, we could call nature our "mentor" or "teacher". We are students of nature, we have a lot to learn from and we have the least experience on how to live.</p><p><br/></p><p>The Shinkansen Bullet train was redesigned after the kingfisher bird because when entering tunnels, the Japanese bullet train used to create deafening sonic booms. Now, with the adjustments made, it can move from air to water (or vice versa) with minimal resistance and zero sonic booms.</p><p><br/></p><p>Another thing biomimicry teaches us is resilience. A rainforest, for instance, can recover from a storm because its functions are distributed across many species — if one tree falls, others fill its niche. It doesn’t promote stability, it promotes diversity because resilience is the ability to recover or adjust easily to change. We can learn from that because even nature faces adversity . We don’t have to accept defeat and just let bad seasons dictate how we start to live, what we can do is think, "how can I adapt or how can I make this better?"</p><p>Biomimicry states that diversity is one of the core components of resilience.</p><p><br/></p><p>A stable system resists disturbance; a resilient one learns from it.
