Olodo Uprising:Are We Rewarding Ignorance Or Authenticity

Hmmm….

Imagine two individuals who went for an interview. One has multiple degrees but cannot try to connect with people. The other has little formal education yet can inspire millions of people through his practical wisdom.

The real question is” WHICH ONE IS TRULY INTELLIGENT”

The “Olodo Uprising” has stirred up a debate if the society now celebrates ignorance in the name of authenticity.

I believe the debate asks the wrong question.

The real deal is not whether we will reward ignorance or authenticity, the question is have we reduced ignorance to a single definition.

Over the years,we have treated academic success as the only proof of intelligence. While education is a good legacy, intelligence can also appear in problem solving, entrepreneurship and life experience. Calling everyone who succeeds outside the classroom an “olodo” ignores these other branches of brilliance. A mechanic who can disguise faults within minutes, a tailor who builds successful fashion brands and makes different designs of outfits. Their knowledge or intelligence in these aspects may not have come from a classroom or a lecture hall, but these skills are not less valuable.

There is a clear difference between lacking formal education and choosing to remain uninformed. The ability and readiness to ask questions, seek knowledge is what really separates authenticity from ignorance.

Social media has also played a great role in helping conversations. Today, anyone who uses a smartphone can build his/her audience within weeks. It creates great opportunities to showcase their talents and gifts, it also makes it easier to confuse popularity with credibility.

At the same time, authenticity should never excuse carelessness. To be real does not mean rejecting facts, spreading wrong information or refusing to learn. The strongest voices are those people who remain authentic while continuously trying to grow. They are always confident to express themselves but humble enough to admit their mistakes.

The future belongs to people who combine originality with knowledge. We should celebrate people for being genuine, but we should encourage curiosity. A society that values both will produce individuals who are not just successful but also responsible in the way they influence.

The “Olodo Uprising” should not divide us into the educated and the uneducated. Instead it should remind us that intelligence has many faces, and the wisest society should value them all.Rather than rewarding ignorance or praising authenticity, we should reward character, competence, and a genuine desire to keep learning. When we do that,we create a society where people are free to be themselves while trying to be the better version of themselves. That way,we can build

a better society.

Best Content
We give out cash prizes to between 7 and 20 community members with the best insights in the past month.
The winners are picked by an in-house selection process.
The winners are NOT picked from the leaderboards/rankings, we choose winners based on the quality, originality
and insightfulness of their content.
Here are a few other things to know for the Best Content track
1
Quality over Quantity — You stand a higher chance of winning by publishing a few really good insights across the entire month,
rather than a lot of low-quality, spammy posts.
2
Share original, authentic, and engaging content that clearly reflects your voice, thoughts, and opinions.
3
Avoid using AI to generate content—use it instead to correct grammar, improve flow, enhance structure, and boost clarity.
4
Explore audio content—high-quality audio insights can significantly boost your chances of standing out.
5
Use eye-catching cover images—if your content doesn't attract attention, it's less likely to be read or engaged with.
