People Often Think Engineering is all about Mathematics.

I was listening to a conversation today when someone asked,

"Where exactly do we use all those algebraic equations in real life?"

Someone replied, "Maybe in engineering."

That made me pause.

Do people really think engineering, especially civil engineering is just mathematics?

Yes, calculations are important. They help us design safe structures and solve technical problems. But the more time I spend on construction sites, the more I realize engineering is also about planning, communication, teamwork, decision-making, and solving problems that don't always have straightforward answers.

Mathematics is a big part of engineering, but it isn't the whole story.

What's one profession you think people often oversimplify?
