SHE THOUGHT SHE WAS FINALLY BEING LOVED… UNTIL SHE REALIZED SHE WAS ONLY BEING TOLERATED.

This is the story of a girl who almost lost herself trying to prove she was worth loving.

When Kiara met Daniel, she had already convinced herself that love simply wasn’t meant for her.

Her previous relationship had left her exhausted. She had gotten used to being questioned, ignored, disappointed, and made to feel like she was always asking for too much.

So when Daniel came along, she was careful.

Very careful.

He was different.

He called her every morning.

“Have you eaten?”

“Did you get home safely?”

“Send me a picture when you get there.”

He remembered little things about her. Her favorite snack. The song she played whenever she was sad. Even the fact that she hated sleeping with the lights completely off.

For the first time in a long time, Kiara felt safe.

She thought, Maybe this is what being loved feels like.

Months passed.

But slowly, things began to change.

Daniel stopped calling as often.

His replies became shorter.

The little surprises disappeared.

When Kiara tried to talk about it, he always had an excuse.

“I’m just stressed.”

“Work has been crazy.”

“You know I love you. Why do you always overthink?”

So she stopped asking.

She started adjusting.

If he didn’t call, she wouldn’t call.

If he took hours to reply, she waited.

If he seemed uninterested, she convinced herself he was tired.

She became an expert at making excuses for someone who wasn’t making an effort.

One Friday evening, Kiara called Daniel.

No answer.

She called again.

Still nothing.

An hour later, he finally called back.

“What’s up?”

His voice sounded irritated.

“Nothing. I just wanted to hear your voice.”

There was silence.

Then he sighed.

“Kiara, I’m tired. Can you please stop calling me over every little thing?”

She froze.

“I’m sorry…”

“It’s fine.”

But it wasn’t.

That night, she cried quietly in her room.

Not because of what he said.

But because she realized she had started apologizing for wanting affection from someone who once gave it to her freely.

A few weeks later, Daniel’s friends invited him to a birthday party.

Kiara wasn’t invited.

She didn’t complain.

She told herself, It’s probably just a guys’ thing.

Until she saw the pictures.

Daniel was there.

Laughing.

Smiling.

And standing beside another girl.

His hand was around her waist.

Kiara stared at the picture for several minutes.

Then she called him.

“Who is she?”

Daniel went quiet.

“She’s just a friend.”

“A friend you hold like that?”

“Kiara, please don’t start.”

That sentence broke something inside her.

Not because of the girl.

Because there was no reassurance.

No explanation.

No “I’m sorry.”

Just annoyance.

For the first time, Kiara stopped trying to understand him.

She started observing him.

And suddenly, she noticed everything.

He only called when he was bored.

He only made plans when it was convenient for him.

He stopped asking about her day.

He stopped noticing when she was sad.

He stopped trying.

Yet somehow, he still expected her to stay.

One evening, Kiara finally asked the question she had been avoiding.

“Daniel, do you still want this relationship?”

He looked at her for a long time.

Then he said quietly,

“I don’t know.”

Her heart sank.

“Then why are you still with me?”

He shrugged.

“I mean… we’re already together. You’re a good person. I don’t want to hurt you.”

Kiara stared at him.

And suddenly, everything made sense.

She wasn’t being loved.

She was being tolerated.

He wasn’t staying because he wanted her.

He was staying because leaving felt inconvenient.

And somehow, that hurt more than cheating ever could.

She stood up.

“You know what hurts the most?”

Daniel looked at her.

“I spent so much time trying to become easier to love… that I never stopped to ask myself why I was begging someone to love me at all.”

He said nothing.

Kiara picked up her bag.

For the first time, she didn’t wait for him to stop her.

She walked away.

And on the way home, she cried.

But this time, the tears weren’t because she had lost Daniel.

They were because she had finally found herself.

Sometimes the hardest thing to accept isn’t that someone stopped loving you.

It’s realizing they never loved you the way you thought they did—you were simply convenient until you weren’t.

And sometimes, walking away isn’t giving up on love.

It’s finally choosing yourself. ❤️🩹

Have you ever stayed somewhere because you were afraid that leaving meant you had failed? 👀

At the end of the month, we give out prizes in 3 categories: Best Content, Top Engagers and
Most Engaged Content.
Best Content
Top Engagers
Most Engaged Content
Best Content
We give out cash prizes to between 7 and 20 community members with the best insights in the past month.
The winners are picked by an in-house selection process.
The winners are NOT picked from the leaderboards/rankings, we choose winners based on the quality, originality
and insightfulness of their content.
Here are a few other things to know for the Best Content track
1
Quality over Quantity — You stand a higher chance of winning by publishing a few really good insights across the entire month,
rather than a lot of low-quality, spammy posts.
2
Share original, authentic, and engaging content that clearly reflects your voice, thoughts, and opinions.
3
Avoid using AI to generate content—use it instead to correct grammar, improve flow, enhance structure, and boost clarity.
4
Explore audio content—high-quality audio insights can significantly boost your chances of standing out.
5
Use eye-catching cover images—if your content doesn't attract attention, it's less likely to be read or engaged with.
6
Share your content in your social circles to build engagement around it.
